I am with you always (Matthew 28:20). In the gospel today, Jesus speaks plainly to the disciples about participating in, continuing, and even expanding upon His work. Their mission is His mission: to build an inclusive community of compassion, mercy and healing. Not one of us is tasked with saving the world by ourselves. We look to our community of faith for support, assurance, assistance and solidarity as we partner with Christ and one another to bring God’s good news to the world.

Receive the Holy Spirit (John 20:22) In the world of the Bible, the word breath is synonymous with “life”. When Jesus breathes on His disciples, He also invites them to receive the Holy Spirit. The earth-shaking wind of the Spirit at Pentecost is an intimate breath of life. Give thanks to God’s gift of breath!

May they be one, as we are one (John 17:11) Christianity is a religion of relationship, not self-efficacy. In an increasingly individualistic and fragmented world, our faith in Christ. Demonstrates a bold witness to the power and beauty of community.

Because I live, you also will live (John 14:19) We are not left on our own to maintain a perspective of love in all that we see, think, say, and do. Jesus promises that He and the Holy Spirit will not only be alongside us but will also live in us forever.

Lord, I believe (John 9:38) Certainty and its pursuit often disrupt our ability to see reality, which is at its core a mystery. Mysteries transcend the world of certainty, and our efforts to possess certainty, like those of the religious leaders in John 9, can cut us off from something miraculous happening right in front of us! Mysteries ask us to let go of our need to control and understand, and to trust God's promises more than our evidence. Let us all say, "Lord, I believe!"

***Please note that Mt Hermon's service for the 4th Sunday in Lent is on-line only. Please stay safe in the late winter storm!***

On February 1st, during the children’s sermon, Pastor Paul shared a simple but powerful idea: turn “ME” upside down and it becomes “WE.” It turns out that’s where the good stuff really happens.
So we decided to put that into action by sending a few quick, person-to-person notes—just to say “Hi,” to let you know we’re thinking about you, and to send along lots of love.
We’re so thankful for this amazing community and hope these small messages of love and joy help keep us all connected.

Don’t be surprised if you’re next in line to receive a smile from Mt. Hermon! 😊
