The Washington Post asks an interesting question for this "Super Sunday." Are sports our new religion?

Whether we are drawn to sport as participants or as spectators, we must not be distracted or consumed by it.

"Exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits A LITTLE, but godliness is profitable for ALL THINGS, having promise of the life that now is AND of that which is to come." I Timothy 4:7-8.

As Americans remembering our nation's Day of Independence, we must not forget that Christians are called to submit ourselves. Whether equal citizens in a constitutional republic, or subjects under the thumb of a tyrant, Christians submit themselves for the Lord's sake. Free in Christ, serving the King of Kings.
