This morning ladies gathered for our annual Ladies Brunch. Our speaker, Marcia Aloisi, encouraged the women from Proverbs 16:20-24 to Think Thoroughly, Trust Totally, and Talk Thoughtfully.

We're grateful for those who prepared food, decorated, and ministered in music.

We recently talked about loving our neighbor as we love ourselves (Lev. 19:18, 19:34; Matthew 19:19, 22:39; Rom. 13:9; Gal. 5:14, James 2:8). We briefly considered how that directive from the Lord can be corrupted by a selfish view of self-love.

Jesus clarifies and deepens the command for us in John 13:34. Not only are we to love others as we love ourselves, but we are to love others as Jesus has loved us. That eliminates any twisting of "love of self" so that it is clear our love for others is to be like God's love toward us.

Day 5 of Wonder Junction Vacation Bible School. We were reminded that although Jesus ascended into heaven after he rose from the dead, someday He will return. In the meantime, we should be faithful stewards of the abilities and responsibilities He has entrusted to us.
