God uses crooked sticks to make straight lines... God used humanity choosing to crucify to His son as part of the outworking of His plan. God’s sovereignty does not preclude human choice. God is sovereign and humanity is responsible.

Don’t run from Jesus, run to Jesus... Run to Jesus and be baptized in Him and receive His forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit. This gift of forgiveness, and new life and the Holy Spirit isn’t just for you, it’s for your kids and for ALL who are far off.

Yesterday we held a Leadership and Ministry Summit after worship to discuss a longer-term vision for ULC. Over 60 people came together to learn about where ULC has come from, where we are now, and brainstorm ideas for the future. We are excited to see what God has in store for the future of our church!

Don't be filled with wine, but with the Spirit...

“For in truth the wine was new, the grace of the New Testament. But this new wine was from a spiritual vine, which already had often borne fruit in the prophets and sprouted forth in the New Testament. For just as in the order of nature the vine, remaining ever the same, brings forth new fruit according to the seasons, so too the same Spirit, remaining what he is, having wrought in the prophets, now manifested something new and marvelous. His grace had indeed been granted to the fathers in times past, but now it came in superabundance; in their case they received a share of the Holy Spirit, now they were baptized in all fullness.” - Cyril of Jerusalem

The Spirit is for all people... Joel is explicit that the Spirit is poured out on men and women alike, and men and women alike will prophesy or “proclaim an inspired message.” We should be rightly skeptical of movements that aim to silence women or treat them as second class citizens. Pentecost and the New Testament church are clear: women are partners & co-laborers in the Gospel. The Spirit is for every person. Through the Spirit every person can call upon the name of Jesus and be saved.

Just outside our sanctuary has turned into a sanctuary for a family of rabbits! The bunnies seem to enjoy the gravel by the front steps as much as the young ones of ULC do!
