St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church & School

St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church & School No doubt about it: encounter the Risen Lord! St. Thomas the Apostle is a Roman Catholic Parish in the Diocese of Lansing.

Our mission is rooted in the life of our patron saint. When Saint Thomas encountered the Risen Christ, his faith was encouraged and his heart was enlivened to become an apostle, spreading the Gospel and serving the early Church. We encounter the Risen Christ in Word and Sacrament, most especially in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. We encourage faith in our Lord Jesus Christ through p

rayer, education, and the spiritual formation of children and adults. The love of God enlivens our hearts and we bear witness to the Gospel with lives of evangelism and service.

As we're preparing to consecrate our country and ourselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, consider checking out this docudrama about St. Margaret Mary and the Sacred Heart devotion. It's playing this week in Ypsilanti, Canton, Livonia, Brighton, Novi, and other locations.

SACRED HEART is a docudrama that presents the heart of Jesus as revealed to Saint Margaret Mary 350 years ago in France. The mystery of the Sacred Heart continues to draw people from around the world to its love, grace and transforming power.

This week’s sacred art is a painting of Jesus instituting the Eucharist. It is in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lille, France.

A selection from the sequence for the feast, Lauda Sion:

What he did at supper seated,
Christ ordained to be repeated,
His memorial ne'er to cease:

And his rule for guidance taking,
Bread and wine we hallow, making
Thus our sacrifice of peace.

This the truth each Christian learns,
Bread into his flesh he turns,
To his precious blood the wine:

Sight has fail'd, nor thought conceives,
But a dauntless faith believes,
Resting on a pow'r divine.

This Sunday there will be not one, not two, but THREE chances to participate in a Eucharistic procession for the feast of Corpus Christi!

There will be short processions around the block following the 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. Masses.

In the evening, we're canceling our 6:00 p.m. Mass and gathering with parishioners from across the Ann Arbor deanery at St. Mary Student Parish for a 5:00 p.m. Mass and procession through the U of M campus. It will end at St. Thomas with Benediction and refreshments.

We hope to see you at one of these processions to worship our Eucharistic Lord and bear witness to his presence among us!

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, commonly called Corpus Christi, is a celebration of our Lord’s gift of himself in the Holy Eucharist. In addition…
