Imagination
EPHESIANS 3:14-21

I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to imagine with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. - Ephesians 3:16-17 (Message Version)
The words of our theme song, “Imagine, imagine the people of God…” point us to an innate gift we all share from God — the gift of imagination. Made in the image of God, we are endowed with the ability to create, to dream, to re-form and form a new and right way of being with each other. In this first week of our series, we will affirm this beautiful gift and begin to “imagine the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love” in our communities.

Spirit Filled!
ACTS 2:1-21

But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, “Fellow Jews and all who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. 15 Indeed, these are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. – Acts 2:14-15

When the Spirit hits the people of God, there is a sense of energy, life, and playfulness that cannot help but draw attention to the community. Together we will dream dreams and see visions and live as the people of God.

Love Fortifies
Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35

Father of orphans and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
God gives the desolate a home to live in;
he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but the rebellious live in a parched land. - Psalm 68:5-6

Love builds up. It fortifies. It supports and strengthens. How do we love each other as God has loved us in such fashion that we protect the vulnerable and the despairing of the world?

Love Redeems Suffering
1 Peter 3:13-22

For it is better to suffer for doing good, if suffering should be God’s will, than to suffer for doing evil. For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, in order to bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, - 1 Peter 3:17-18

Human beings were not made for suffering. Indeed, humankind, it seems from the beginning, is created to receive blessing. But the reality is that sometimes people suffer. Moreover, sometimes people (like Jesus) suffer because they do what is right. The resurrection of Jesus redeems the suffering of the cross. It does not dismiss suffering, but heals it and does not lash out to make others suffer in retaliation.

Worship will be online only tomorrow. We have communicated with the tv channels, but wanted to make sure word got out. Please share with anyone and everyone. No in person activities at Ankeny Christian Church tomorrow. Join us online on either Facebook or YouTube tomorrow morning at 10 am for worship!

Next Wednesday (May 14th 2025) we will begin phase 1 of our driveway repair project. While the project is being executed it will reduce our driveway from two lanes down to one lane for traffic ingress and egress. Please be patient and courteous while we go through the project.

Phase two's begin date is still TBD, and will also reduce us to only 1 lane. We will update when we have a date for phase 2.
