“Having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, through the Word of God which LIVES and ABIDES FOREVER.” (I Peter 1:23)
TENDING YOUR SPIRITUAL GARDEN
Our hearts are the garden in which God’s Word grows. In Matthew 13, we find the parable of the sower. Here are some thoughts for you…
Jesus explains how God’s Word is like a seed.
* The Path - when anyone hears the Word and does not understand it, the enemy comes to steal the Word from our lives
* Rocky soil - spiritually, we must have a root system, for when tribulation or persecution arises because of the Word, a person stumbles
* Thorny ground - chokes the Word out due to the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches
* Good soil - when a person hears the Word and understands it, the Word produces fruit, some a hundred-fold, some 60, some 30
As we sow God‘s Word in our hearts, we become more like Christ. Just like in gardening, we have to deal with the weeds (our sin nature). Be quick to repent… it’s easier to pull small weeds than big weeds.
In gardening/farming, there are the elements that are constantly having to be dealt with….
the extreme cold or heat, lack of rain, high winds, hail. The demonic realm is always trying to destroy the crop that God wants in our lives. He comes at us with lies, fear, worry, temptations. Continue in His Word, the Name of Jesus, praise & worship, living a life set apart unto God (walking in the Light), giving the enemy no place, exercising our authority by declaring God’s Word, have right relationships,
etc.
Stick with Jesus, His Word and His people. Meditate on His Word. Think on things that are pure, lovely and of a good report. In the storms of life, run to God, not away from Him.
Jesus paid so great a price for our salvation, peace, freedom, healing, etc. His Word is LIFE and HEALTH to us. It transforms how we think, believe and live. It is POWERFUL and Jesus has given us His WORD, His NAME, and with the help of the Holy Spirit to OVERCOME in this life!
