"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:4-7

The apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit tells his original audience and us to rejoice. How do we rejoice when our lives are difficult? Does Paul realize that life is hard? Does he understand how the secularist are seeking to undermine the mission of Christ? Though Paul may not have known our current circumstances, the one who inspired Him certainly did and still does. Furthermore, Paul doesn't root his command to rejoice in circumstances but in God. He tells us to cast our prayers and anxieties on God, and the peace of God will guard us in Christ. Therefore, in light of this passage--amongst many others--I demand that you talk to the Lord about your difficulties. You won't regret it.

That said, prayer is not only a private affair. In the book of Acts the early church was devoted to prayer, the teachings of the apostles, fellowship, and the breaking of bread (Acts 2:42-47). We can find encouragement by meeting as a church and collectively casting our prayers on the Lord. I invite all who are able to come join us at Straight Bayou Baptist church at 7:00 pm to pray, sing hymns, and read Scripture.

Day two is in the books. Again we engaged personal evangelism and distributed tracts. One more day. Pray that God would cause the seeds of the gospel we plant or water to take root and grow. Also, consider how you might reach the members of our community with the truth.
