You can learn more about us at: www.providencepresb.org and the EPC at www.epc.org Sometimes visiting a new church can be a bit
scary or daunting. Each church has its own
worship style and expectations, so here are a
few things to expect when you worship at
Providence:
1. We promise that we will not make you
stand up and introduce yourself, wear a
“Visitor” badge or put the spotlight on you
in
any way.
2. We want to get to know YOU so we do
ask that you fill out the “Who’s New in the
Pew” which is in the bulletin, then place it in
the offering plate when you exit the service.
3. As a visitor you are not expected to give
financially. You are welcome to give as the
Spirit leads, but please do not feel obligated
to give financially as a visitor.
4. Children are always welcome to stay for
the entire worship service, however, if
parents would like we have a nursery
available for birth to 3yrs, and Sunday School
during the sermon for 4yrs to 5th grade.
5. Our worship service begins at 11am;
we try to end by noon. Worship at
Providence is considered “traditional,”
that means we sing hymns, pray, silently
confess our sins, (then together we say a
prayer of confession), read scripture and
have a sermon. You are welcome to
participate at whatever level you feel
comfortable.
6. We do not have a dress code for our
congregation. If you feel better in your
“Sunday best” or T-shirt and jeans, we’re
okay with that!
7. If we announce it, you are welcome
to join us. In other words, if we are
having a potluck meal after service, or an
activity during the week, you are
welcome to join. Do not worry about
bringing anything. However, if we do
have a congregational meeting, we ask
that you not vote, due to our church
government rules.
8. From
“Where’s the restroom?’ to “How long
has the church been standing?” We
want to make you feel as comfortable as
possible. If we do not know the answer
to any of your questions, we’ll find someone
who does!
9. Our Pastor wants to be YOUR Pastor. If
you would like to talk with the Pastor, feel
free to talk after any service, or call the
church. The Pastor would love to get to
know you and can be contacted during business hours.
