Parshas Vayakhel-Pekudei & Shabbat HaChodesh: Building with Strength

This week we conclude Exodus and say together: Chazak, chazak, v'nitchazekβ€”be strong, be strong, and let us strengthen one another.

The parasha teaches us about the pegs that anchored the Mishkan so its walls wouldn't shake with the wind. The lesson? We need to give our children spiritual "pegs"β€”Torah values, strength of character, respect for othersβ€”so they stand firm even when the winds of the world try to shake them.

In difficult times, our mission is to raise a generation anchored in who they are and unshaken by negativity around them.

May we all have nachas from our children and grandchildren.

Shabbat Shalom! πŸ’™

Parshat Ki Tisa: The Power of Reminders πŸ•ŠοΈ

This Shabbat we read from two Torahs, including the special reading about the Red Heifer (Parah Adumah).

Both Tallit and Tefillin serve as powerful reminders that keep us connected to Hashem and His mitzvot. The Tefillin is "a sign between your eyes," and the Tzitzit reminds us to "see it and remember ALL the commandments."

Even God showed Moshe that He wears Tallit and Tefillin when teaching us about forgiveness and the Thirteen Attributes of Mercy.

These aren't just rituals. They're daily reminders of who we are and Whose we are.

Shabbat Shalom! ✨

Parshas Tetzave & Shabbat Zachor: Maybe You Were Meant for This Moment

This Shabbat is truly special! It's Shabbat Zachor, the Shabbat before Purim, and it falls right after the 7th of Adarβ€”the day Moshe Rabbeinu was both born and passed away.

In this week's parasha, Tetzava, something remarkable happens: Moshe's name doesn't appear even once. From the beginning of Exodus through the end of Deuteronomy, Moshe's name is in every single parashaβ€”except this one.

Why?
There are two reasons. First, because this week marks when Moshe passed away. But there's a deeper reason: When the Jewish people sinned with the Golden Calf, Hashem wanted to start anew with Moshe alone. But Moshe pleaded: "Please forgive them, and if not, erase my name from Your Torah."

Hashem forgave the people, but the words of a tzaddik have power. Once Moshe made that decree, it had to happen. His name was omitted from Parshas Tetzava.

The Purim Connection:
As we prepare for Purim this Monday night and Tuesday, we remember Mordechai's powerful message to Esther: "Who knows if it was for this very moment that you became queen?"

Esther hesitated. The king hadn't called for her. But Mordechai reminded her: maybe THIS is exactly why you're in the palace. Maybe it's your job to save the Jewish people.

The Lesson for Us:
Sometimes we think something isn't for us to do. We hold back. But who knows? Maybe you're in that exact position, with that specific knowledge or ability, for such a time as this. Maybe you ARE meant to get involved.

Terumah: Bringing Color Into Your Mitzvot

This Shabbat, we enter the joyful month of Adar! In this week's parasha, Terumah, we learn about the building of the Mishkan, the tabernacle that traveled with the Jewish people in the wilderness.

The Mishkan had four coverings, but the outer layer was the most special: the Tachash skin. This unique material, with its many beautiful colors, could only be found during that miraculous time. Today, we don't even have a translation for "Tachash" because it no longer exists!

What's the lesson?

There are three ways to do a mitzvah: the action itself, the intention behind it, and the beautification of it (hiddur mitzvah). The colorful Tachash skin teaches us that when we perform mitzvot with joy and happiness, we bring color and vibrancy into our spiritual lives.

Life without happiness has no color. But when you do mitzvot with simcha (whether it's lighting Shabbat candles, making kiddush, visiting someone in need, or learning Torah) you illuminate your life with beauty.

As the Talmud says: When Adar enters, we increase in joy!

Mishpatim & Shabbat Shekalim: You Are Only Half

This Shabbat is special β€” we take out two Torahs. The first for Parshat Mishpatim, and the second for Parshat Shekalim, where we read about the half-shekel that Jewish people brought to the Holy Temple.

Here's something remarkable: every mitzvah must be done completely β€” a mezuzah must be whole, tefillin must be complete. But the half-shekel? It must be given as a half.

Why?

Moshe himself didn't understand this mitzvah until Hashem showed him a fiery coin. The message is profound: the half-shekel teaches us that we are never complete alone. You are only half β€” the other half is Hashem.

The rich couldn't give more, the poor couldn't give less. Everyone gave exactly half, reminding us that in every mitzvah we do β€” every Shabbat, every bracha, every moment β€” we are partnering with Hashem. We cannot do it alone.

This Shabbat also blesses the new month of Adar. And when Adar enters, we increase in joy!

Wishing you all a Shabbat Shalom filled with happiness and the awareness that you're never alone β€” Hashem is always your other half.

The Three Gifts of Torah: Inheritance, Purchase, and the Ultimate Gift

What does it mean when we pray "give us our part in the Torah"? πŸ•

In this powerful teaching, we explore a profound insight from Chassidic philosophy about the three dimensions of Torah:

πŸ“– Yerusha - Our inheritance from G-d
πŸ’Ž Mecher - Purchased through our efforts
🎁 Matanah - The ultimate gift revealed in Messianic times

The Torah we have today is both our inheritance and something we "purchase" through our study and commitment. But there's a third dimensionβ€”a gift that will be fully revealed when Mashiach comes and the Holy Temple is rebuilt.

When we pray "grant us our portion in Your Torah," we're asking for that ultimate revelation, when the Torah will shine in its fullest glory as G-d's gift to us.

May we merit to see this speedily in our days! πŸ™

Yitro: Three Ways to Serve G-d

In this week’s parasha, Yitro, we read about the Giving of the Torah and the Ten Commandments. Embedded in this moment is a deep lesson about how we perform a mitzvah.

There are three ways a person can do a mitzvah. One is through habit β€” doing it because we’re used to it, and it has become part of our nature. A second is through love β€” doing the mitzvah because we want to connect to G-d and feel close to Him. Both are meaningful and powerful.

But there is an even higher level: doing a mitzvah simply because it is G-d’s will. Not for habit, not even for spiritual fulfillment β€” but because Hashem commanded it.

This parasha challenges us to ask ourselves: can we elevate what we already do and infuse it with deeper intention?

Wishing you all a wonderful and uplifting Shabbat Shalom.
