As much as we speak about winning souls, and making a difference. We must realize that a "stretching" has to happen first Before God can add to your life. Are you ready to be stretched??????

This is Pastor Chiyona’s letter to the Congregation:

LETTER TO CONGREGATION
June 7, 2026
Dear Friends of New Hope UMC
On this first Sunday of June, the end of the Indiana Annual Conference meeting, I stand before you grieving, yet filled with hope.

As I am ending my call as your pastor at New Hope, I celebrate the year! I remember walking through the building a year ago after the storms that came through. We were filled….withwaters from heaven. I longed to see the baptismal pool in use. However, God had other plans, and I was able to baptize Baby Worthy at the font in this very sanctuary. I was able to journey with you as we welcomed Fiona into the faith in Autumn.

We have feasted on the WORD and on nutritious meals. And don’t let me forget about the music – the music that carries the legacy of New Hope from a small home to this very corner on which we worship.

The sound went out July 13! My first Sunday here. On my last Sunday, we will continue to celebrate the updates to the sound system. I am grateful to brothers Charles and Oscar who have been on music duty (and more) since their time at their Emmaus weekend. I am grateful to brother Alphonso who has been a faithful doorkeeper in the house of The Lord.

We Celebrate the updates to the Food Pantry – may that ministry continue that the neighborhood be fed.
I value the work of Our Bishop Tracy Smith Malone, The Conference, the Cabinet, and our District Superintendents who assess gifts and needs across the Indiana Conference. Though I’m sad to be departing New Hope, I am excited to share in a new ministry.

You will not be left without support; the Conference and new District Superintendent, Tom Ream will be a resource to your council and to this congregation in the months ahead.

My Mom, “Rev. Mother” and my brothers join me in saying that we have truly grown to love this church and this community. You have welcomed us and allowed us into the most tender and sacred moments of your lives. That is a gift I do not take lightly, and it is not one I will forget. We will continue to pray for New Hope — for its ministries, its people, and the neighborhood.

Blessings to each of you and a good and faithful ending to the chapter we have shared together.
It has been the honor of my ministry to serve as your pastor. Thank you.

We are concluding the 2026 Indiana Annual Conference today. It has been full: of worship, celebration, disagreement, teaching, encouragement, and support.

It has been a joy to serve on Nominations with Duane, the District Committee, and the General Board.
