Where are the angels in our lives? Hebrews 13:2 (NKJV) tells us they may be right in front of us: “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.” Don’t miss an opportunity to serve those around us.

God never asks us to do too much, only to take one step at a time. As He commanded Paul, “Arise and go into the city and you will be told what you must do” Acts 9:6 (NKJV). While the Lord doesn’t always reveal the end of the story to us, we can be assured the journey is worth it.

When we live for others, we live for the Lord. As the apostle Paul reminded us, “Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being” 1 Corinthians 10:24 (NKJV). When we give to others we gain much more in return.

Trust in the One who can make a way when there is no way. “Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth…,” Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV). He who created the heavens and the earth can make a road through the wilderness of our lives.

Even when the whole world shakes, God’s hand will not fail you. “When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm” Psalm 75:3 (NIV). If your day is a little shaky, remember we worship a God who is rock solid.

This Fourth of July, celebrate the true freedom that comes only from the Lord. “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free…” Galations 5:1 (NKJV). While we enjoy the freedom of our land, we rejoice in the liberty given to us from God above.

He who makes the earth shake can calm the stormy waters of our lives. We do well to remember we worship an all powerful God. “The mountains saw You and trembled…” Habakkuk 3:10 (NKJV). How powerful God must be that even rocks can be moved by His presence.

Celebrate our fathers. Proverbs 10:1 (NIV) reminds us, “A wise son brings joy to his father.” The wisdom we have is a gift from those before us. Let us thank them and pass this wisdom on to those who follow.

We are never at a loss for words when we trust them to the Lord. God told Moses: “…I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say” Exodus 4:12 (NKJV). When we follow God’s Word, we never want for words.

The wisdom of Psalm 33:12 (NIV) reminds us of the rewards of worshipping God. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” When we honor God as the leader of our nation, we receive His promised blessings.
