Worth checking out if you are into outdoor excursions.

We are offering a series of ranger-led interpretive hikes this month! These hikes are open to the public and dogs on leash are allowed and encouraged. The ranger-led hikes enable visitors to explore the park's diverse trail system with a park ranger and learn about Whiskeytown's natural and cultural history. For dogs and dog owners, B.A.R.K. Ranger Activity Books will be available and you and your faithful companion can become official Whiskeytown National Recreation Area B.A.R.K. Rangers!

While entrance passes are required to recreate in the park, there is no additional fee for the ranger-led hikes. Visitors should bring water and wear close-toed shoes. Programs will be cancelled if substantial rain is forecasted.

In order to serve as many different hiker skill levels and visitors as possible, the ranger-led hikes vary in length and difficulty. The Crystal Creek Falls and Guardian Rock ranger-led hikes are fully wheelchair accessible; they are on paved trails that are mostly flat and short. Hikes such as Davis Gulch and particularly Whiskeytown Falls are more strenuous.

The November 2021 schedule for ranger-led hikes is as follows.

Saturday, November 6 @ 10 am - Oak Bottom Water Ditch
2 miles roundtrip, mostly flat, meet at trailhead across from Campground Store.

Saturday, November 13 @ 10 am - Crystal Creek Falls
0.8 miles roundtrip, flat and paved, meet at falls trailhead.

Saturday, November 20 @ 10 am - Crystal Creek Water Ditch
2 miles roundtrip, flat, meet at the trailhead.

Friday, November 26 @ 9:30 am - Whiskeytown Falls
3.4 miles roundtrip, steep and strenuous, meet at the James K. Carr Trailhead.

Friday, November 26 @ 2 pm - Guardian Rock
0.5 miles, paved and mostly flat, meet at the trailhead at Horse Camp.

Saturday, November 27 @ 9:30 am - Davis Gulch
5 miles, moderate, meet at the trailhead on Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Saturday, November 27 @ 2 pm - Tower House Historic District
1.2 miles, mostly flat, meet at the trailhead.
