MADISON COUNTY HAS BEEN DECLARED A NATIONAL DISASTER AREA, and because of that, certain resources have been activated to help MADISON COUNTY and all the 21 affected counties in Indiana.

For DAMAGE TO HOMES, PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION, or expenses related to necessary evacuation during the storm and power outage, here are the types of assistance for possible help: https://www.fema.gov/assistance/individual/housing
(It is important to note that this declaration is limited to the August flooding and not any other prior or separate events.)

APPLYING FOR FEMA INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE
The most direct way to apply for Individual Assistance is through www.DisasterAssistance.gov
You can also apply through the FEMA mobile app or by calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362....HOWEVER, before applying, gather the information listed on this page: https://www.disasterassistance.gov/get-assistance/application-checklist
Once you apply, it is important that you respond to any messages from FEMA to schedule home damage inspections and verify other information.

The status of your application may change multiple times - you may receive notifications of a denial of ONE TYPE of assistance, but that doesn't mean you are denied for ALL programs. Denials (especially related to home repair funds) may be "preliminary" and can be appealed once insurance settlements are finalized. Some denials are due to clerical errors or missing documents and can be fixed through appeals.
