Midweek Mercy
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”
Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
As I was making a list of goals last night before going to bed and spending time talking with the Lord, I began thanking Him for the opportunities He has given me recently—not only to share the Gospel, but to lead a precious soul to Christ.
This verse stood out to me because, as believers, it is very easy to set our eyes on many different things. The fact is, most of the things we focus on will not matter in the grand scheme of eternity.
If we as Christians do not have a vision for lost souls, hurting souls, and discouraged souls, then who will? And what will happen? According to this verse, the people will perish.
There is no question that life is difficult right now. Everywhere we look, we see people struggling, searching, and perishing without hope. That is why it is so important for each of us to discover and use the gifts God has given us.
God has given some the gift of evangelism—that is mine. Others have been gifted to teach, to give, to show mercy, to discern, to administer, and many other things. The way God leads me may be completely different from the way He leads you. In fact, some of the things God has called me to do may make you think I’m absolutely crazy! But I am simply operating in the gifting God has given me.
You should do the same.
Find out how God can use you most effectively for His Kingdom. Discover how you can make a difference in someone’s life. Look for opportunities to encourage others, point them to Christ, and share the hope that is found in Him alone.
I hope this has been a blessing and an encouragement to you today.
Have a wonderful rest of your week!
