St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Andalusia, Alabama

St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Andalusia, Alabama Serving as the hands and feet of Christ in the Andalusia community since 1947. Join us for worship on Sundays at 9:15 am and Wednesdays at 12:00 noon. St. Mary’s!

Mary’s is a parish made up of a diversity of people–single and married; families with young children and older adults; people who have been Episcopalians all their lives; those who have come to the Episcopal Church from other faith traditions; and people looking for a new way to live. We seek to worship and serve God, to reach out to each other and to the world in Christ’s love, and to journey tog

ether in our faith. As Episcopalians, we are followers of Jesus Christ and believe in one God–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We strive to love our neighbors as ourselves and respect the dignity of every person. We uphold the Bible and worship with the Book of Common Prayer. We celebrate our unity in Christ while honoring our differences, always putting the work of love before uniformity of opinion. The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion and traces it heritage to the beginnings of Christianity. All are welcome to find a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church and at St.

Today, in the life of the Church, we celebrate the feast of St. Barnabas the Apostle. Though Barnabas was not one of the original twelve, the Church remembers him as an apostle because of his faithful witness and his important role in the earliest days of the Church. His name means “son of encouragement,” and that is exactly what he became for the Church. Barnabas helped welcome Paul into the Christian community when others were unsure of him, and he later became one of Paul’s companions in spreading the Gospel. Tradition also remembers Barnabas as the founder of the Church in Cyprus, his native home. On this feast day, we give thanks for the witness of St. Barnabas and for all those who encourage others in the faith and welcome them into the fellowship of the Church.
