Good morning...it's been awhile since I've posted here but I continue to care for those buried here. One of the projects I haven't given enough attention to is capturing old photos of the cemetery and any photos of those who are laid to rest here. I would appreciate anyone that has any photos they would be willing to share, I'd like to make them a permanent record here on this page dedicated to Sams Cemetery,

So I haven’t posted in forever…. Just some updates. The old Mulberry stump has been reduced to just a small remaining core. I hope to get a stump grinder to it to finish it off before we get to putting a fence back up.

Regarding the fence, I’ve not made any progress other than some research on the types of fences that are period appropriate. I’m talking with Weber Stone about the possibility of some Stone to square off the Northeast corner…again, before any fence work.

The crossing is finished and stable and working very well. I’ve started working on the wet area just after the first turn that is often not passable when it’s wet. I’ve added a tube and am slowly raising the level of that crossing. I did cross it today in my Ram successfully so it works but needs a lot more dirt before it’s done.

Still need to work on some headstones as sinking remains a problem, as with all of the old cemeteries. I’m also researching some cleaning solutions and am converting an old tote to allow water to be transported to the site for this purpose.

That’s about it for progress for now.

The Derrecho did a bit of damage out here, including dropping a few trees and causing water damage at the crossing. Got a bit of work to do... The good news is that the tree missed all head stones.

LOOKING FOR HELP!

If you haven't heard, Russ managed to break his arm so we're looking for help for the next few weeks keeping the cemetery mowed and trimmed. Mowers and gas can be provided unless you're partial to using your own equipment.

Please contact us if you can give us a hand until Russ can get back on the equipment again.

Thanks!
Russ & Wendy
