We recently got to celebrate Stephanie’s baptism down at the beach! God brought her and Luis through a tough season but continued to pursue them and draw them back to Himself. After years of being disconnected they wanted to plug back into church but hadn’t found a fit. The very day they were praying about it God put them on my heart and so I reached out and they were at our gathering the next week! As Stephanie encountered God she expressed her desire to proclaim her faith and get baptized. A couple of weeks later we went to her favorite place (the beach) and celebrated her new birth in Christ together! It’s never too late to say Yes to God!

“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”

We celebrated 3 years as a church last Sunday! What a ride it has been and we are so grateful for the lives we have seen God change today and for eternity. Thank you to our supporters, we just as Spirit filled and excited about making disciples and growing the Kingdom of God today as we were when we first began!

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness and much fear trembling and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom but in a demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Yesterday we got to bless some families from .aesd with Christmas gifts! Our hearts are filled as we were given the opportunity to love and bless others and provide gifts to over 50 kids! Thanks to principal Chacon, Ana, Carlos, and the Lincoln faculty for partnering with us to bless the community this Christmas Season!

Swing and a miss! This was an article yesterday in the LA times about fans continuing to boo the Astros. 4 years ago they cheated (illegal stealing of signs/pitches) when they won the World Series. Whether you choose to forgive the Astros or not this shows us the high price of sin/wrongdoing that too many choose to rationalize or ignore.

The absolution of sins cannot be earned like some karmic restitution nor is it delicate. Absolution/forgiveness ultimately requires a brutal payment in blood from each of us for the totality of our life’s wrongdoing, that is the weight of justice. In light of this reality God shows us His sacrificial love while preserving His justice. God paid the blood sacrifice for us through His son’s death on the cross. God earned absolution for us while paving the way for eternal life and relationship with Him, our loving (and just) Father. Our sin is serious so let us turn from trying in vain to justify ourselves before God and others and turn to God to receive absolution bought with the blood of Jesus. Then we can put on the new self, that is in Christ, and live in real freedom as God’s sons and daughters.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves it is the free gift of God. Not by works so that no one can boast.
