Communique: Chemical Spill emergency in Garden Grove
Dear faithful family and friends of St. Johns,
We pray for God’s continued grace and blessings amidst this celebratory period of our Lord’s Holy Ascension.
As you may be aware, yesterday morning there was a mandatory evacuation order released in response to a chemical spill emergency in Garden Grove. This public order was issued out of an abundance of caution for a widespread area surrounding the incident.
The city of Garden Grove has posted online updates regarding this ongoing situation and can be accessed here: https://ggcity.org/emergency. You can also see ongoing updates from the OC Fire Authority via their social media at https://x.com/OCFireAuthority or
Of course, our own utmost priority is the safety of our church, parishioners, and families. Fortunately, our church of St. John the Baptist is safely outside the evacuation zone and services, parish operations, events, and facilities are still under normal conditions and operating hours.
We are also aware that some of our parishioners do live in the evacuation zone and have already safely relocated. With this in mind, we encourage any parishioners or family members that may be in need at this time to communicate with the church office should we be able to assist in any way. Additionally, if you know of any St. John’s families that may be in need of assistance and may not know to reach out, please keep us apprised so that we can connect with them, even if just to check in on their wellness and safety.
