✨Parishioners are welcome to bring a candle to church this Sunday to have it blessed. The blessed candles can be lit on birthdays, anniversaries, when someone was sick, and especially during thunderstorms and tornado warnings.
Father Greiner said that the blessings will be done at the back of church before Mass, the fire will be distributed throughout the church with the parishioners holding the small candles that we use at Easter Vigil. Then he will process to the alter, we will sing the Gloria and then the Mass will proceed as usual.
If you have any questions you can contact Guadalupe (620)621-0734 or Glenn Britten. Please spread the word with our parishioners that don't have social media.✨
Sunday, February 2, 2025, is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, a time that the church celebrates when Mary and Joseph brought the Child Jesus to the Temple to be dedicated to God. Our Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph acted in obedience to the law, inspiring us to strive to be more obedient to God’s will in our own lives. When the couple met Simeon in the Temple, Simeon called the Holy Child “a light to the revelation of the Gentiles” (Luke 2:25-32). These words are the basis for the custom of blessing candles — representing the Light of Christ — on this feast day, also known as Candlemas.
