What if the question isn’t “Can I do this?” but “Does Jesus have authority here?”

In our culture, we’re taught to ask about rights and freedoms. But as followers of Jesus, we’re called to something deeper. Luke 9:23 reminds us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him. That means Jesus has authority over what we believe, desire, choose, and who we’re becoming.

Whether it’s politics, personal freedom, or pain, the real question is: Does Jesus have lordship in this area of my life? We’re citizens of heaven first—before any country, party, or preference. Our freedom belongs to Him. Even our pain belongs to Him, because He didn’t come to help us avoid suffering, but to redeem it.

What area of your life needs to be surrendered to His authority today? Jesus is ready to meet you there with healing and hope.
