CAPÍTULOS 5-8

CAPÍTULO 5

Visión de un rollo volador

Zac 5:1 De nuevo alcé mis ojos y miré, y he aquí, un rollo que volaba.

Zac 5:2 Y me dijo: ¿Qué ves? Y respondí: Veo un rollo que vuela; su longitud es de veinte codos, y su anchura de diez codos.

Zac 5:3 Entonces me dijo: Esta es la maldición que sale sobre la faz de toda la tierra; porque todo el que roba será exterminado según lo que está escrito en un lado, y todo el que jura falsamente será exterminado según lo que está escrito en el otro lado.

Zac 5:4 Yo la haré salir, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y entrará en la casa del ladrón y en la casa del que jura falsamente por mi nombre; y permanecerá en medio de su casa, y la consumirá con sus maderas y sus piedras.

Visión de una mujer en una cesta

Zac 5:5 Entonces el ángel que hablaba conmigo salió y me dijo: Alza ahora tus ojos y mira qué es esto que sale.

Zac 5:6 Y dije: ¿Qué es? Y él dijo: Esta es la medida de efa que sale. Dijo además: Esta es su apariencia en toda la tierra.

Zac 5:7 (Y he aquí, se levantó un talento de plomo); y esta es una mujer sentada en medio de la medida de efa.

Zac 5:8 Y dijo: Esta es la Maldad; y la arrojó en medio de la medida de efa; y arrojó el peso de plomo sobre la boca de ella.

Zac 5:9 Entonces alcé mis ojos y miré, y he aquí, salieron dos mujeres, y el viento estaba en sus alas; tenían alas como las de una cigüeña; y levantaron la medida de efa entre la tierra y el cielo. Zacarías 5:10 Entonces dije al ángel que hablaba conmigo: ¿Adónde llevan estos la medida de efa?

Zacarías 5:11 Y él me respondió: Para edificarle una casa en la tierra de Sinar; y cuando esté preparada, la colocarán allí en su propio lugar.

CAPÍTULO 6

Una visión de cuatro carros

Zacarías 6:1 Y alcé de nuevo mis ojos, y miré, y he aquí, cuatro carros salían de entre dos montañas; y las montañas eran de bronce.

Zacarías 6:2 En el primer carro había caballos rojos; y en el segundo carro, caballos negros;

Zacarías 6:3 y en el tercer carro, caballos blancos; y en el cuarto carro, caballos bayos fuertes.

Zacarías 6:4 Entonces respondí y dije al ángel que hablaba conmigo: ¿Qué son estos, señor mío?

Zacarías 6:5 Y el ángel respondió y me dijo: Estos son los cuatro vientos del cielo, que salen de estar delante del Señor de toda la tierra.

Zacarías 6:6 El carro en que están los caballos negros sale hacia la tierra del norte; y los blancos salieron tras ellos; y los bayos salieron hacia la tierra del sur.

Zacarías 6:7 Y los fuertes salieron, y buscaron ir para recorrer la tierra: y él dijo: Id, recorred la tierra. Y así recorrieron la tierra.

Zacarías 6:8 Entonces me llamó y me habló, diciendo: He aquí, los que van hacia la tierra del norte han apaciguado mi espíritu en la tierra del norte.

La corona y el templo

Zacarías 6:9 Y vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

Zacarías 6:10 Toma de los del cautiverio, de Heldai, de Tobías y de Jedaías; y ven tú ese mismo día, y entra en la casa de Josías, hijo de Sofonías, adonde han llegado desde Babilonia;

Zacarías 6:11 Toma de ellos plata y oro, y haz coronas, y ponlas sobre la cabeza de Josué, hijo de Jozadac, el sumo sacerdote;

Zacarías 6:12 y háblale, diciendo: Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí el hombre cuyo nombre es el Renuevo; él brotará de su lugar, y edificará el templo de Jehová;

Zacarías 6:13 él mismo edificará el templo de Jehová, y llevará la gloria, y se sentará y reinará sobre su trono; y será sacerdote sobre su trono; y habrá consejo de paz entre ambos.

Zacarías 6:14 Y las coronas serán para Helem, para Tobías, para Jedaías y para Hen, hijo de Sofonías, como memorial en el templo de Jehová.

Zacarías 6:15 Y los que están lejos vendrán y edificarán en el templo de Jehová; y sabréis que Jehová de los ejércitos me ha enviado a vosotros. Y esto sucederá si obedecéis diligentemente la voz de Jehová vuestro Dios.

CAPÍTULO 7

Un llamado a la justicia y la misericordia

Zacarías 7:1 Aconteció en el cuarto año del rey Darío, que la palabra de Jehová vino a Zacarías el cuarto día del noveno mes, que es Quisleu.

Zacarías 7:2 Y los de Betel habían enviado a Sarezer y a Regem-melec, y a sus hombres, para implorar el favor de Jehová,

Zacarías 7:3 y para hablar con los sacerdotes de la casa de Jehová de los ejércitos, y con los profetas, diciendo: ¿Debemos llorar en el quinto mes, absteniéndonos de comer, como lo hemos hecho durante tantos años?

Zacarías 7:4 Entonces vino a mí la palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo:

Zacarías 7:5 Habla a todo el pueblo de la tierra, y a los sacerdotes, diciendo: Cuando ayunasteis y llorasteis en el quinto y en el séptimo mes, durante estos setenta años, ¿acaso ayunasteis para mí, para mí mismo?

Zacarías 7:6 Y cuando coméis y bebéis, ¿no coméis y bebéis para vosotros mismos?

Zacarías 7:7 ¿No debíais haber oído las palabras que Jehová proclamó por medio de los profetas anteriores, cuando Jerusalén estaba habitada y prosperaba, y sus ciudades circundantes, y el Neguev y la Sefela estaban habitados?

Zacarías 7:8 Y la palabra de Jehová vino a Zacarías, diciendo:

Zacarías 7:9 Así ha dicho Jehová de los ejércitos: Juzgad con justicia, y mostrad bondad y compasión cada uno a su hermano;

Zacarías 7:10 y no oprimáis a la viuda, ni al huérfano, ni al extranjero, ni al pobre; y ninguno de vosotros trame mal contra su hermano en su corazón.

Zacarías 7:11 Pero ellos rehusaron escuchar, y se rebelaron, y taparon sus oídos para no oír.

Zacarías 7:12 Endurecieron sus corazones como el diamante, para no oír la ley ni las palabras que Jehová de los ejércitos había enviado por su Espíritu por medio de los profetas anteriores; por eso vino gran ira de parte de Jehová de los ejércitos.

Zacarías 7:13 Y sucedió que, así como él clamó y ellos no quisieron oír, así también ellos clamarán y yo no oiré, dice Jehová de los ejércitos;

Zacarías 7:14 sino que los dispersaré con un torbellino entre todas las naciones que no conocieron. Así la tierra quedó desolada después de ellos, de modo que nadie pasaba por ella ni regresaba; porque convirtieron la tierra hermosa en desierto.

CAPÍTULO 8

La paz y la prosperidad venideras de Sion

Zacarías 8:1 Y me llegó la palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo:

Zacarías 8:2 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Siento gran celo por Sion, y con gran ira la defiendo.

Zacarías 8:3 Así dice Jehová: He regresado a Sion y habitaré en medio de Jerusalén; y Jerusalén será llamada Ciudad de la Verdad, y el monte de Jehová de los ejércitos, Monte Santo.

Zacarías 8:4 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Todavía habrá ancianos y ancianas en las calles de Jerusalén, cada uno con su bastón en la mano por su avanzada edad.

Zacarías 8:5 Y las calles de la ciudad estarán llenas de niños y niñas jugando en ellas.

Zacarías 8:6 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Si esto parece maravilloso a los ojos del remanente de este pueblo en aquellos días, ¿acaso también me parecerá maravilloso a mí?, dice Jehová de los ejércitos.

Zacarías 8:7 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: He aquí, salvaré a mi pueblo de la tierra del oriente y de la tierra del occidente;

Zacarías 8:8 y los traeré, y habitarán en medio de Jerusalén; y ellos serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios, en verdad y en justicia.

Zacarías 8:9 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Fortalezcan sus manos, ustedes que oyen en estos días estas palabras de la boca de los profetas que estuvieron en el día en que se puso el fundamento de la casa de Jehová de los ejércitos, es decir, del templo, para que fuera edificado.

Zacarías 8:10 Porque antes de aquellos días no había paga para el hombre ni para la bestia; ni había paz para el que salía ni para el que entraba, a causa del adversario; pues yo puse a todos los hombres unos contra otros.

Zacarías 8:11 Pero ahora no seré para el remanente de este pueblo como en los días pasados, dice Jehová de los ejércitos. Zacarías 8:12 Porque habrá semilla de paz; la vid dará su fruto, y la tierra dará su cosecha, y los cielos darán su rocío; y haré que el remanente de este pueblo herede todas estas cosas.

Zacarías 8:13 Y sucederá que, así como fuisteis maldición entre las naciones, oh casa de Judá y casa de Israel, así os salvaré, y seréis bendición. No temáis, sino que vuestras manos sean fuertes.

Zacarías 8:14 Porque así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Como pensé haceros mal cuando vuestros padres me provocaron a ira, dice Jehová de los ejércitos, y no me arrepentí;

Zacarías 8:15 así también he pensado en estos días hacer bien a Jerusalén y a la casa de Judá: no temáis.

Zacarías 8:16 Estas son las cosas que debéis hacer: Hablad cada uno la verdad con su prójimo; ejecutad juicio de verdad y de paz en vuestras puertas;

Zacarías 8:17 y ninguno de vosotros trame mal en su corazón contra su prójimo; ni améis el juramento falso; porque todas estas cosas las aborrezco, dice Jehová.

Zacarías 8:18 Y vino a mí palabra de Jehová de los ejércitos, diciendo:

Zacarías 8:19 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: El ayuno del cuarto mes, y el ayuno del quinto, y el ayuno del séptimo, y el ayuno del décimo, serán para la casa de Judá gozo y alegría, y fiestas solemnes; por tanto, amad la verdad y la paz.

Zacarías 8:20 Así dice Jehová de los ejércitos: Aún sucederá que vendrán pueblos, y los habitantes de muchas ciudades;

Zacarías 8:21 y los habitantes de una ciudad irán a otra, diciendo: Vamos pronto a implorar el favor de Jehová, y a buscar a Jehová de los ejércitos; yo también iré. Zacarías 8:22 Sí, muchos pueblos y naciones poderosas vendrán a buscar al Señor de los Ejércitos en Jerusalén y a implorar su favor.

Zacarías 8:23 Así dice el Señor de los Ejércitos: En aquellos días sucederá que diez hombres de todas las lenguas de las naciones se aferrarán al borde del manto de un judío, diciendo: «Iremos contigo, porque hemos oído que Dios está contigo».

CHAPTERS 5-8

CHAPTER 5

A Vision of a Flying Scroll

Zec 5:1 Then again I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, a flying roll.

Zec 5:2 And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.

Zec 5:3 Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole land: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off on the one side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off on the other side according to it.

Zec 5:4 I will cause it to go forth, saith Jehovah of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name; and it shall abide in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

A Vision of a Woman in a Basket

Zec 5:5 Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.

Zec 5:6 And I said, What is it? And he said, This is the ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their appearance in all the land

Zec 5:7 (and, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead); and this is a woman sitting in the midst of the ephah.

Zec 5:8 And he said, This is Wickedness: and he cast her down into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.

Zec 5:9 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there came forth two women, and the wind was in their wings; now they had wings like the wings of a stork; and they lifted up the ephah between earth and heaven.

Zec 5:10 Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?

Zec 5:11 And he said unto me, To build her a house in the land of Shinar: and when it is prepared, she shall be set there in her own place.

CHAPTER 6

A Vision of Four Chariots

Zec 6:1 And again I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.

Zec 6:2 In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;

Zec 6:3 and in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grizzled strong horses.

Zec 6:4 Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?

Zec 6:5 And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four winds of heaven, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.

Zec 6:6 The chariot wherein are the black horses goeth forth toward the north country; and the white went forth after them; and the grizzled went forth toward the south country.

Zec 6:7 And the strong went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So they walked to and fro through the earth.

Zec 6:8 Then cried he to me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, they that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country.

The Crown and the Temple

Zec 6:9 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,

Zec 6:10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, of Tobijah, and of Jedaiah; and come thou the same day, and go into the house of Josiah the son of Zephaniah, whither they are come from Babylon;

Zec 6:11 yea, take of them silver and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the head of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest;

Zec 6:12 and speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, Behold, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of Jehovah;

Zec 6:13 even he shall build the temple of Jehovah; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

Zec 6:14 And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of Jehovah.

Zec 6:15 And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of Jehovah; and ye shall know that Jehovah of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of Jehovah your God.

CHAPTER 7

A Call for Justice and Mercy

Zec 7:1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of Jehovah came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chislev.

Zec 7:2 Now they of Beth-el had sent Sharezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to entreat the favor of Jehovah,

Zec 7:3 and to speak unto the priests of the house of Jehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

Zec 7:4 Then came the word of Jehovah of hosts unto me, saying,

Zec 7:5 Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

Zec 7:6 And when ye eat, and when ye drink, do not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

Zec 7:7 Should ye not hear the words which Jehovah cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?

Zec 7:8 And the word of Jehovah came unto Zechariah, saying,

Zec 7:9 Thus hath Jehovah of hosts spoken, saying, Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother;

Zec 7:10 and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the sojourner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.

Zec 7:11 But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

Zec 7:12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which Jehovah of hosts had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets: therefore there came great wrath from Jehovah of hosts.

Zec 7:13 And it is come to pass that, as he cried, and they would not hear, so they shall cry, and I will not hear, said Jehovah of hosts;

Zec 7:14 but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

CHAPTER 8

The Coming Peace and Prosperity of Zion

Zec 8:1 And the word of Jehovah of hosts came to me, saying,

Zec 8:2 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.

Zec 8:3 Thus saith Jehovah: I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called The city of truth; and the mountain of Jehovah of hosts, The holy mountain.

Zec 8:4 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

Zec 8:5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

Zec 8:6 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith Jehovah of hosts.

Zec 8:7 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;

Zec 8:8 and I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.

Zec 8:9 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words from the mouth of the prophets that were in the day that the foundation of the house of Jehovah of hosts was laid, even the temple, that it might be built.

Zec 8:10 For before those days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in, because of the adversary: for I set all men every one against his neighbor.

Zec 8:11 But now I will not be unto the remnant of this people as in the former days, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Zec 8:12 For there shall be the seed of peace; the vine shall give its fruit, and the ground shall give its increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.

Zec 8:13 And it shall come to pass that, as ye were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing. Fear not, but let your hands be strong.

Zec 8:14 For thus saith Jehovah of hosts: As I thought to do evil unto you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I repented not;

Zec 8:15 so again have I thought in these days to do good unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.

Zec 8:16 These are the things that ye shall do: Speak ye every man the truth with his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates;

Zec 8:17 and let none of you devise evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith Jehovah.

Zec 8:18 And the word of Jehovah of hosts came unto me, saying,

Zec 8:19 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love truth and peace.

Zec 8:20 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities;

Zec 8:21 and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of Jehovah, and to seek Jehovah of hosts: I will go also.

Zec 8:22 Yea, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Jehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of Jehovah.

Zec 8:23 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.

Evening

"I came not to send peace on earth, but a sword." — Mat 10:34

The Christian will be sure to make enemies. It will be one of his objects to make none; but if to do the right, and to believe the true, should cause him to lose every earthly friend, he will count it but a small loss, since his great Friend in heaven will be yet more friendly, and reveal himself to him more graciously than ever. O ye who have taken up his cross, know ye not what your Master said? "I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother; and a man's foes shall be they of his own household." Christ is the great Peacemaker; but before peace, he brings war. Where the light cometh, the darkness must retire. Where truth is, the lie must flee; or, if it abideth, there must be a stern conflict, for the truth cannot and will not lower its standard, and the lie must be trodden under foot. If you follow Christ, you shall have all the dogs of the world yelping at your heels. If you would live so as to stand the test of the last tribunal, depend upon it the world will not speak well of you. He who has the friendship of the world is an enemy to God; but if you are true and faithful to the Most High, men will resent your unflinching fidelity, since it is a testimony against their iniquities. Fearless of all consequences, you must do the right. You will need the courage of a lion unhesitatingly to pursue a course which shall turn your best friend into your fiercest foe; but for the love of Jesus you must thus be courageous. For the truth's sake to hazard reputation and affection, is such a deed that to do it constantly you will need a degree of moral principle which only the Spirit of God can work in you; yet turn not your back like a coward, but play the man. Follow right manfully in your Master's steps, for he has traversed this rough way before you. Better a brief warfare and eternal rest, than false peace and everlasting torment.

«No he venido a traer paz a la tierra, sino espada.» — Mateo 10:34

El cristiano seguramente se granjeará enemigos. Uno de sus propósitos será no tenerlos; pero si hacer lo correcto y creer en la verdad le hiciera perder a todos sus amigos terrenales, lo considerará una pequeña pérdida, ya que su gran Amigo en el cielo será aún más amigo y se le revelará con mayor gracia que nunca. ¡Oh, vosotros que habéis tomado su cruz, ¿no sabéis lo que dijo vuestro Maestro? «He venido a poner en enemistad al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre; y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su propia casa.» Cristo es el gran Pacificador; pero antes de la paz, trae la guerra. Donde llega la luz, la oscuridad debe retirarse. Donde está la verdad, la mentira debe huir; o, si permanece, habrá un conflicto implacable, porque la verdad no puede ni bajará su estandarte, y la mentira debe ser pisoteada. Si seguís a Cristo, todos los perros del mundo os ladrarán a los talones. Si queréis vivir de tal manera que superéis la prueba del juicio final, estad seguros de que el mundo no hablará bien de vosotros. El que tiene la amistad del mundo es enemigo de Dios; pero si sois fieles al Altísimo, los hombres resentirán vuestra inquebrantable fidelidad, ya que es un testimonio contra sus iniquidades. Sin temor a las consecuencias, debéis hacer lo correcto. Necesitaréis el coraje de un león para seguir sin vacilar un camino que convertirá a vuestro mejor amigo en vuestro peor enemigo; pero por amor a Jesús debéis ser valientes. Arriesgar la reputación y el afecto por amor a la verdad es una acción que, para realizarla constantemente, necesitaréis un grado de principios morales que solo el Espíritu de Dios puede infundir en vosotros; pero no deis la espalda como cobardes, sino comportaos como hombres. Seguid con valentía los pasos de vuestro Maestro, pues Él ya ha recorrido este camino difícil antes que vosotros. Mejor una breve guerra y el descanso eterno, que una falsa paz y el tormento eterno.

CAPÍTULO 20

Los mil años

Apocalipsis 20:1 Vi a un ángel que descendía del cielo, con la llave del abismo y una gran cadena en la mano.

Apocalipsis 20:2 Y prendió al dragón, la serpiente antigua, que es el Diablo y Satanás, y lo ató por mil años;

Apocalipsis 20:3 y lo arrojó al abismo, y lo cerró y lo selló sobre él, para que no engañara más a las naciones, hasta que se cumplieran los mil años; después de esto, debe ser desatado por un poco de tiempo.

Apocalipsis 20:4 Y vi tronos, y se sentaron sobre ellos, y se les dio juicio; y vi las almas de los que habían sido decapitados por el testimonio de Jesús y por la palabra de Dios, y de los que no habían adorado a la bestia ni a su imagen, ni habían recibido la marca en su frente ni en su mano; y vivieron y reinaron con Cristo mil años.

Apocalipsis 20:5 Los demás mu***os no volvieron a vivir hasta que se cumplieron los mil años. Esta es la primera resurrección.

Apocalipsis 20:6 Bienaventurado y santo el que tiene parte en la primera resurrección; sobre estos la segunda muerte no tiene poder, sino que serán sacerdotes de Dios y de Cristo, y reinarán con él mil años.

La derrota de Satanás

Apocalipsis 20:7 Cuando se cumplan los mil años, Satanás será desatado de su prisión,

Apocalipsis 20:8 y saldrá a engañar a las naciones que están en los cuatro extremos de la tierra, a Gog y a Magog, para reunirlos para la guerra; el número de ellos es como la arena del mar.

Apocalipsis 20:9 Y subieron por la anchura de la tierra, y rodearon el campamento de los santos y la ciudad amada; y descendió fuego del cielo y los devoró. Apocalipsis 20:10 Y el diablo que los engañaba fue arrojado al lago de fuego y azufre, donde también están la bestia y el falso profeta; y serán atormentados día y noche por los siglos de los siglos.

El Juicio ante el Gran Trono Blanco

Apocalipsis 20:11 Y vi un gran trono blanco, y al que estaba sentado en él, de cuya presencia huyeron la tierra y el cielo, y no se halló lugar para ellos.

Apocalipsis 20:12 Y vi a los mu***os, grandes y pequeños, de pie ante el trono; y se abrieron los libros, y se abrió otro libro, que es el libro de la vida; y los mu***os fueron juzgados por las cosas que estaban escritas en los libros, según sus obras.

Apocalipsis 20:13 Y el mar entregó los mu***os que estaban en él; y la muerte y el Hades entregaron los mu***os que estaban en ellos; y fueron juzgados cada uno según sus obras.

Apocalipsis 20:14 Y la muerte y el Hades fueron arrojados al lago de fuego. Esta es la segunda muerte, el lago de fuego.

Apocalipsis 20:15 Y el que no se halló inscrito en el libro de la vida fue arrojado al lago de fuego.

Morning

"Hitherto hath the Lord helped us." — 1Sa 7:12

The word "hitherto" seems like a hand pointing in the direction of the past. Twenty years or seventy, and yet, "hitherto the Lord hath helped!" Through poverty, through wealth, through sickness, through health, at home, abroad, on the land, on the sea, in honour, in dishonour, in perplexity, in joy, in trial, in triumph, in prayer, in temptation, "hitherto hath the Lord helped us!" We delight to look down a long avenue of trees. It is delightful to gaze from end to end of the long vista, a sort of verdant temple, with its branching pillars and its arches of leaves; even so look down the long aisles of your years, at the green boughs of mercy overhead, and the strong pillars of lovingkindness and faithfulness which bear up your joys. Are there no birds in yonder branches singing? Surely there must be many, and they all sing of mercy received "hitherto."

But the word also points forward. For when a man gets up to a certain mark and writes "hitherto," he is not yet at the end, there is still a distance to be traversed. More trials, more joys; more temptations, more triumphs; more prayers, more answers; more toils, more strength; more fights, more victories; and then come sickness, old age, disease, death. Is it over now? No! there is more yet-awakening in Jesus' likeness, thrones, harps, songs, psalms, white raiment, the face of Jesus, the society of saints, the glory of God, the fulness of eternity, the infinity of bliss. O be of good courage, believer, and with grateful confidence raise thy "Ebenezer," for-

He who hath helped thee hitherto
Will help thee all thy journey through.

When read in heaven's light how glorious and marvellous a prospect will thy "hitherto" unfold to thy grateful eye!

CHAPTER 20

The Thousand Years

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.

Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,

Rev 20:3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time.

Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as worshipped not the beast, neither his image, and received not the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

Rev 20:5 The rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years should be finished. This is the first resurrection.

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: over these the second death hath no power; but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

The Defeat of Satan

Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

Rev 20:8 and shall come forth to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Rev 20:9 And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down out of heaven, and devoured them.

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are also the beast and the false prophet; and they shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Judgment Before the Great White Throne

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Rev 20:14 And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.

Rev 20:15 And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.
