MID-WEEK RECAP:

This week, we took a look at the story of the paralyzed man and his faithful friends. In this passage Jesus worked one of his many miracles—one that still impacts our faith today!

One thing that I really love to be reminded of is that God still works miracles today. Sometimes it feels like those things only happened back in biblical times, and though they may look a little different these days, it is such a reassurance to me that they still take place. Miracles might not always look like we want them to, but we trust that God is the one who sees the bigger picture, and if we could see what he sees, then we would choose what he chooses.

How does Jesus heal today?
1. Jesus heals through His Word.
—This healing comes when we turn away from what we want & what we think is best and trust Him.
2. Jesus heals through friends.
—The paralyzed man’s friends brought him to Jesus. They did whatever they had to do to get their friend there.
—We were never intended to walk alone! We were made as relational beings.
—True friends push you to be more like Jesus and help you in your walk with Christ.
3. Jesus heals through your faith.
—Jesus responds to your faith.
—2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I hope you were encouraged today, sister! 🫶🏼

She wants to provide it in a way that they can access it discreetly and quickly! If you would like to help her stock this please bring an item or two with you to hear her testimony. There will be a donation bin to collect the items in.

MID-WEEK RECAP:

Last week we finished up our series on stewardship, but it set the stage for this week’s sermon. Taking in all that we learned from the past 4 weeks should help us to Marvel At Jesus & Live For His Glory!

This Sunday we looked at Psalm 113:1-9 which says: “Hallelujah! Give praise, servants of the Lord; praise the name of the Lord. Let the name of the Lord be blessed both now and forever. From the rising of the sun to its setting, let the name of the Lord be praised. The Lord is exalted above all the nations, his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God — the one enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the trash heap in order to seat them with nobles — with the nobles of his people. He gives the childless woman a household, making her the joyful mother of children. Hallelujah!”

And from this passage we were asked two questions by Brother Allen. First, “Who made you?” Second, “Why did God make us?” The answers to these questions were the basis of this message.

Why should we praise the Lord?
I. As servants of the Lord, we are called to praise the Lord (vs 1-5).
-Every person, believer or not, is searching for something, for their purpose. For us believers, we find that answer in the first 5 verses.
-“Every ‘Hallelujah’ whispered or proclaimed is a step closer to living a life that truly glorifies God.”
-Ecclesiastes 3:11

II. Servants of the Lord have cause to praise the Lord (vs 6-9).
-The Cause: He is great & He is gracious.
-Give glory to God in whatever you’re doing & if you can’t give Him glory in doing it, don’t do it.
-Glorifying God is demanded by His greatness, but it is also made personal by His graciousness.

Will we allow ourselves to marvel at his greatness, at his graciousness, and at his glory? And how would our daily decisions look different if we did?

I pray you are encouraged this week, sisters! 🩷

MID-WEEK RECAP:

With Memorial Day being this past Sunday, how appropriate is it that we also get to be reminded that our freedom is also something we are called to steward well.

American freedom is often associated with Christian freedom, but these two things are not anonymous. As Sean McDowell says, “According to the Christian world view, true freedom is not a matter of doing what you want without restraint, but cultivating the right wants and living in obedience to God‘s will. In other words, freedom results when our wants align with God‘s will.“

Freedom comes from submitting to the right restraint, not resisting restraint. Brother Allen expounded on this statement in a sports analogy: “You can think about this within the context of sports. It’s a lot more fun to play soccer or football when everyone is playing by the same rules.” The restraint that we have in living the Christian life is the glory of God—loving to glorify Him. It is the restraint and the goal of Christian life. In Him we have the freedom to say “no” to the things of the world.

Our restraint is His glory & our freedom is His glory.
-2 Corinthians 3:2,6,11

What does it mean to live for the glory of God & reflect Him?
- Colossians 3:17,23

So how do we go about being good stewards of our freedom?
I. Understand what we have freedom from (vs17).
-freedom from the bo***ge of sin, freedom from the power of sin, freedom from the weight of sin, freedom from the guilt of sun, freedom from the penalty of sin

II. Understand what we’ve been freed to do.
a) Freedom to be guided (Romans 8:14)
b) Freedom to belong (Romans 8:15-17)
c) Freedom to pray (Romans 8:26-27)
d) Freedom to serve (2 Corinthians 3:5-6)
e) Freedom to witness (Acts 1:8)
f) Freedom to learn (John 16:12-15)
g) Freedom to produce (Galatians 5:22-33)

III. Understand that our goal in freedom is to glorify God.
-Ask yourself: What has control of your life? Who has control of your life? Are you glorifying God with your freedom?

Be encouraged today, sisters! 🩷

MID-WEEK RECAP:

“Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, by where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves don’t break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness! No one can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬-‭24‬ ‭(CSB‬)

What controls your life? A good indicator would be where you spend your money.

This week we were encouraged to manage what God has given us and to find enjoyment within it, and to manage what you’ve been given NOT be managed by it.

Some practical tips from our scripture this week are:
I. Recognize where your treasure truly lies (vs19)
-What are you pursuing in life? Where are you spending your money? Are you leaving space to be generous? Or is your pursuit clothes, cars, homes, or material goods?
-Are you investing more in worldly things than in eternal things?

II. Consider what dominates your vision (vs 22).
- What is influencing what’s important to us?
-What are you consuming with your eyes?
-Is what you’re consuming causing you to have spiritual near-sightedness? We need to make sure that we are letting good things in so that good things come out.

III. Decide whom you will serve (vs24).
-Cultivate a mind of stewardship not ownership!
-We have to manage our stuff for His glory and not ours.

Be challenged and encouraged today, sisters! All we have He has given. Let us be faithful, generous, and good stewards! 🙌🏼

MID- WEEK RECAP: Mother’s Day Edition

This past Sunday, our pastor challenged us to not only steward our faith as we learned last week but also to steward our families.

**THE MOST INFLUENTIAL THEOLOGIANS FOR YOUR CHILDREN SHOULD BE MOM & DAD.**
What a challenge! What a great responsibility!

So how are we doing as stewards of our families? Are you making disciples of Christ? What are your children seeing you do?
-Do they see you living out a biblical world view or do they see you living out a relative world view?
-Are they seeing you make disciples? Or do they see you playing the “church game”?
-Do they see you finding your identity in Christ? Or do they see you looking for your purpose in money, possessions, or status?

We looked at Psalms 127-128 and received three challenges:
1. Acknowledge God’s role in your life. (Psalm 127:1)
—When God gives you things, he expects them to be used for His glory.

2. Treasure God’s reward of family. (Psalm 127:3)
—Are you treating your children like they are a treasure from God?
—Treating them like treasures demands that we shape, form, aim, prepare, & protect them.
—Be the loudest voice for your kids. Don’t let technology or culture teach them for you.

3. Follow God’s path to success. (Psalm 128)
—Fear the Lord and walk in His ways. There you will find contentment & satisfaction. Be reverent. Be obedient.

Sisters, may we all be motivated to have the greatest influence in our children’s lives and may we motivate them to know God more! May they see Him in us. 🤍
