Good Morning all you beautiful ladies!
Our service project is fast approaching. On THURSDAY May 16 from 6:30-8:00 we will meet at the church to work on MULTIPLE service projects needed for the Humanitarian Center. We will have MANY items tom complete so PLEASE reach out to your neighbors, your ministering sisters and invite them to come participate in this fun evening of service.
We know that our donation of our time and our monetary purchases allows the Humanitarian Center to accomplish their mission which includes: to prolong life, reduce suffering, foster self-reliance, prepare for individual, family and community emergencies, sustain life, not a lifestyle, promote personal responsibility, and provide an opportunity for individuals to serve their fellowmen.
"When ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."
The projects we have chosen to complete for this activity include:
* Braiding Jump ropes
* Coloring Folder activities
* Tying two baby quilt tops (please let us know if you have some quilt stands that we could borrow)
* Assembling Hygiene Kits
We also have 2 quilt top kits that need to be sewn if a couple of ladies that know how to do that could offer to help with those that would be wonderful. Please reach out to Kara Purcell if you are interested in doing that.
Our local Humanitarian Center sends out 100 Hygiene kits A WEEK! They are truly needed items, and we would VERY MUCH like to provide one weeks worth of kits (100 kits) for them to distribute if possible. I will be providing a list of the items needed along with how many we currently have to donate. While you are out shopping PLEASE keep these items in mind. The dollar store is an INCREDIBLE place to purchase most of these items.
We WILL have a container in the Relief Society room each Sunday with May 12 being the last day to collect so that we can purchase the necessary items to complete the kits. You may also drop items purchased off to any member of the Relief Society Presidency or to Mckenzie Williams.
A Single Hygiene Kit Contains:
> 1 bar bath size soap that is still in the wrapper.... (We currently have: 16/100)
> 1 comb..NO rat tail combs..... (We currently have 8/100)
> 1 Shampoo OR combo shampoo & conditioner 12.5 to 16 oz (We currently have 3/100)

We are happy to put together a nursery for this evening. IF that is something you would be in need of so that you can come participate PLEASE let a member of the presidency know ASAP!
Please bring your favorite summertime munchie to share. We will have a couple yummy drinks available while we visit, and work together. We can't wait!!!!
