Dominican College Preaching In Action Conference

Dominican College Preaching In Action Conference This conference is for college students who want to learn more about Dominican life and mission

Dominican Young Adults USA is a program of the larger Dominican Youth Movement USA. Our individual Dominican youth programs, originally founded through a collaboration of Sister Gina Fleming, OP and Sister Patricia Brady, OP in 2001, have served over 3,500 high school students, college students, and young adults. What began with a small conference for high school students has grown beyond our wild

est expectations. The Dominican youth programs make the connection between the Dominican tradition of preaching and the participants’ own call to preach, while also fulfilling the demand for leadership training and preaching opportunities. We Recognize the need to expand the reach of Dominican youth programs. We Believe that young people are searching for a way to connect spiritually and ethically to their broader world. We Know that the Dominican tradition of preaching speaks to our youth and helps them to fulfill their own search for God, community and a sustainable life.

Today the Dominican Family celebrates the Feast of the Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We remember the story of the vision Saint Dominic had when the Lord showed him members of various religious orders. Dominic was crestfallen because he did not see any from his own. The Lord called him to come closer to Our Lady, put his own hand on our Lady’s shoulder, and asked her to open up her mantle. Underneath that cape, Dominic saw the members of his Order and Christ told him that he was giving Mary — his mother, our mother — as a special patron to the Order.

Happy Feast Day to all!

A sad day at Dominican University of CA. We mourn the loss of Father Robert Haberman – Father Bob – who passed away peacefully early today. He was a beloved member of the Dominican community for 32 years. Rest In Peace. https://bit.ly/3a1r8Zn

We may not be gathering this year for the Dominican High School and College Preaching Conferences, but the spirit of St. Catherine is alive and well in our hearts. St. Dominic called on us to find new ways to preach and we do that each day. Each day leading up to St. Catherine of Siena’s Feast day...

Just a thought .. we could each sign up to do a day, a short prayer, with a short reflection on the scripture of the day .. perhaps making it relevant to what is happening to all of us now!

Hi All this came from one of the youth ministers in our diocese .. she is asking for help .. Think about how you can be a "Preacher" by writing to one of these lonely seniors. This is what we are called to do!!!

Friends I have a friend that works at Maria Regina please see her request and if you could reach out to your groups and ask them to participate it would bring some sunshine to our elderly. There is a need for cards to nursing home residents who are so lonely & getting depressed without visitors & without activities, they also listen to the TV and are getting scared. A card letting them know that people are thinking of them would be greatly appreciated.!
We have 188 beds. Cards can be mailed to Maria Regina Residence
