First Southern Methodist Church of Amite, Louisiana Service is on Sunday Mornings at 9:00 AM. The First Southern Methodist Church of Amite is located at 410 East Mulberry Street in the heart of Amite, Louisiana.

While we are small congregation, we are full of love and invite everyone to come worship the Lord with us. During Morning Worship, we sing hymns and learn God's message to us from Brother Mitchell. On the First Sunday of every month, we offer communion services for all believers in attendance. You do not have to be a member to celebrate communion with us. If you are interested in joining our churc

Have you ever felt overlooked, forgotten, or completely alone? Many of us have felt that way, but God sees us - He really sees us! This week, we turn our hearts to El Roi—the God who sees us. Join us as we pray and reflect on His presence, His care, and His faithfulness. The prayer points are:

ADORATION
Worship the God who sees you when no one else does. He sees you in your distress, your loneliness, your pain and discomfort, your longing and your loss. He knows your deepest needs, hears your cries, and catches every tear. Praise Him as El Roi—the God who sees you.

CONFESSION
Confess the times you have withdrawn from God when you were lonely, hurt, or angry. Ask His forgiveness for the times you have allowed your circumstances or feelings to convince you that He has forgotten you. Confess any resentment, jealousy, or envy you have felt when you believed you were overlooked by others. Ask God to help you trust that His love and attention are not dependent upon the attention or approval of people.

THANKSGIVING
Thank God that there is no place you can go where He cannot see you. Nothing escapes His loving gaze, and nothing about your life is hidden from Him. Give thanks that He knows your thoughts, understands your struggles, and is present even in the places where you feel most alone. Thank Him that nothing you say or do will cause Him to turn His face away from you.

SUPPLICATION
Ask God to help you become more aware of His presence in your daily life and to trust what He says rather than what your feelings tell you. Pray that you will not depend upon the approval or attention of others to know your worth. Ask God to strengthen those who are experiencing loneliness, grief, pain, disappointment, or hardship. Pray that they will know in a very real way, that El Roi sees them, knows them, and has not forgotten them.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” These familiar words from Psalm 23 have brought comfort to countless hearts. Perhaps you have heard them at a funeral, in a sermon, or during your own personal Bible reading.

This week, Psalm 23 and John 10 are the focus of our ACTS Prayer Points as we reflect on the beautiful truth that God is our Shepherd. He watches over us, provides for us, guides us, and cares for us.

We invite you to join us in prayer this week as we draw closer to our Good Shepherd! 🙏

ADORATION
Worship God as your Shepherd who knows you, loves you, and faithfully cares for you. Praise Him that you will not lack what you truly need because He provides for you—giving you rest, nourishment, peace, and refreshment, just as a shepherd provides green pastures and quiet waters for his sheep. Praise Christ as the Good Shepherd who knows you personally, calls you to follow Him, and willingly gave His life for you. Thank Him for guiding you to live in ways that honor Him and for remaining with you through every season of life.

CONFESSION
As you reflect on God as your Shepherd, confess the times you have wandered away from His direction and chosen your own way. Acknowledge the occasions when you have failed to listen to His voice or trusted your own judgment instead of following His leading. Confess the fear, discontentment, and anxiety that have caused you to doubt His provision and care. Ask Him to restore your relationship with Him and help you follow His direction once again.

THANKSGIVING
Thank God that He is with you even when you go through the darkest and most difficult seasons of life. Give thanks that He protects, comforts, and strengthens you, just as a shepherd uses his rod and staff to protect and guide his sheep. Thank Him for restoring you when you are weary and for continuing to lead you in ways that are right and pleasing to Him. Thank Christ for willingly giving His life for you and for giving you abundant and eternal life. Praise God that His goodness and mercy are with you throughout your life and that you will one day live with Him forever.

SUPPLICATION
Ask God to help you recognize His voice and faithfully follow His direction wherever He leads you. Pray for the faith to trust Him when He leads you through unfamiliar or difficult circumstances, knowing that you do not need to be afraid because He is with you. Ask Him to provide what you need, restore you when you are weary, strengthen you during difficult times, and keep you from wandering away from Him. Pray for those who feel lost, hurting, fearful, or far from God, asking that they will hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, follow Him, and experience the abundant life, security, and eternal hope found in Him.

ADORATION
Worship God as the source of perfect peace. Praise Him that His peace is not dependent on circumstances but flows from His unchanging character and faithful presence. Thank Him that through Christ you have peace with God and can experience the peace of God that guards your heart and mind. Praise Him that His promises bring calm in every season of life.

CONFESSION
As you reflect on God's perfect peace, confess the times you have allowed worry, fear, or anxiety to replace trust in Him. Acknowledge the occasions when you have relied on your own understanding instead of resting in His sovereign care. Confess any bitterness, unforgiveness, or sinful attitudes that have robbed you of His peace.

THANKSGIVING
Thank God for the peace He gives, even in the midst of life's trials. Praise Him for His faithful presence, His unfailing promises, and His constant care through every circumstance. Give thanks that nothing can separate you from His love and that He is always at work for your good and His glory.

SUPPLICATION
Ask God to help you trust Him more completely so that His perfect peace will rule your heart each day. Pray that He will replace worry with faith and teach you to bring every concern to Him in prayer. Lift up those who are facing illness, grief, broken relationships, financial hardship, or uncertainty, asking God to surround them with His peace and comfort. Pray that the calm confidence you have in Christ will be a testimony that points others to the lasting peace found in Him alone.

What We Believe:

We believe there is one living and eternal God who created and sustains all things. God exists as three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—equal in power, glory, and majesty.

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became fully human while remaining fully God. Born of the Virgin Mary, He lived among us, died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will return one day to judge all people. His death is the one complete and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the world, making it possible for all who trust in Him to be forgiven and restored to God.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God and works in the hearts and lives of people, drawing them to Christ, strengthening believers, and assuring them of God's presence.

We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are God's authoritative Word and contain everything necessary for salvation. The Bible is the foundation of Christian faith and practice. The Old and New Testaments are in harmony, both pointing to Jesus Christ as the only Savior and Mediator between God and humanity. While the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament are no longer binding upon Christians, God's moral commandments continue to guide His people.

We believe that every person is born with a sinful nature inherited from Adam and is unable, by personal effort alone, to overcome sin or come to God. Because of His grace, however, God enables people to respond to Him in faith. Salvation is a gift of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not earned by good works or personal merit.

We believe that those who place their faith in Christ are declared righteous before God. Although good works cannot save anyone, they naturally flow from genuine faith and demonstrate a transformed life. Christians are called to live in humble obedience, recognizing that they can never earn favor with God by doing more than He requires.

We believe that Christians are not beyond the possibility of sin. When believers fail, God graciously offers forgiveness and restoration to those who sincerely repent and return to Him.

We believe that the Church is the community of faithful believers where God's Word is faithfully preached and the sacraments are properly administered. Christ established two sacraments for His Church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.

We believe that Baptism is a sign of new life in Christ and that the baptism of young children should be practiced. We believe that the Lord's Supper is a sacred remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and a spiritual sharing in His saving work through faith. In Communion, all believers should receive both the bread and the cup.

We reject teachings and practices that cannot be supported by Scripture, including purgatory, the worship of images or relics, and the invocation of saints. We also believe that public worship and the administration of the sacraments should be conducted in a language understood by the people.

We believe that God established marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. Marriage is the foundation of the family and is the only relationship in which sexual intimacy is to be expressed according to God's design. Ministers, like all Christians, are free to marry.

We believe that churches may establish forms of worship and ceremonies appropriate to their setting, provided they remain faithful to the teachings of Scripture and promote the spiritual growth of the church.

As we begin a new week, we invite you to join us in prayer for our ACTS prayer points focused on God's incredible gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

ADORATION
Worship God for His great plan of salvation, conceived in love before the foundation of the world. Praise the Father for sending His only Son to redeem sinners. Praise Jesus Christ for willingly giving His life on the cross so that you might have forgiveness and eternal life. Worship the Holy Spirit for convicting hearts of sin. Praise God that salvation is entirely by His grace.

CONFESSION
As you reflect on God's gift of salvation, confess the times you have taken His grace for granted or allowed the wonder of the gospel to fade from your heart. Acknowledge any unconfessed sin or any area of your life you have been unwilling to surrender to Christ. Confess the times fear, complacency, or busyness have kept you from sharing the message of salvation with others.

THANKSGIVING
Thank God for rescuing you from sin and giving you eternal life through Jesus Christ. Praise Him that your salvation rests on Christ's finished work rather than your own efforts. Give thanks for the Holy Spirit's ongoing work in your life and for those who faithfully shared the gospel with you.

SUPPLICATION
Ask God to renew your appreciation for the greatness of your salvation so that you never lose your joy or gratitude for what Christ has done. Pray that the Holy Spirit will keep your heart sensitive to sin and quick to respond in repentance and obedience. Ask God to give you boldness, wisdom, and compassion to share the gospel and your personal testimony with those who need Christ. Lift up those who have not trusted in Christ, asking God to draw them to Himself. Pray that the joy and assurance of your salvation will be evident in your life and point others to Jesus.

Where do you go for help? God wants to be your Deliverer, your Rock and your Fortress! The prayer points for this week focus on God as our Rock and Refuge. They are:

ADORATION
Worship God as your Refuge and place of safety. Praise Him for being your Rock—strong, unchanging, and steadfast. Just as a massive rock provides shelter from the storm and a firm foundation beneath our feet, God is our secure refuge in every season of life. Praise Him that no trouble is too great for Him and that His presence brings peace, strength, and security to all who trust in Him.

CONFESSION
As you reflect on God as your Rock and Refuge, confess the times you have sought security in your own strength or in the things of this world instead of turning to Him. Acknowledge the fears, worries, and anxieties that have kept you from fully trusting His care. Confess any reluctance to run to Him first when difficulties arise.

THANKSGIVING
Thank God for the many times He has been your Rock and Refuge during seasons of hardship, uncertainty, or loss. Praise Him for His protection, comfort, guidance, and faithful presence through every trial. Give thanks that He never abandons His children and that His promises provide hope and confidence even in life's darkest moments.

SUPPLICATION
Ask God to help you trust Him more completely as your Rock and Refuge each day. Pray for the faith to rest in His promises instead of giving in to fear or worry. Lift up those who are facing illness, grief, financial hardship, broken relationships, or other trials, asking God to surround them with His peace and protection. Pray that your confidence in Him will point others to the safety and hope found in Christ alone.
