South New Hope Cemetery Assoc South New Hope Church was once a center of Norwegian American culture and religious life.

Located within the peaceful glaciated countryside of central Wisconsin, South New Hope Church was once a center of Norwegian American culture and religious life and today we are developing a bridge to these memories and heritages so that current and future generations can learn, embrace and enjoy these earlier days which were sometimes desperate times.

The event will be held in the church with the exception of quick laying of the wreaths. All are welcome.

Spring Spruce Up will be held on May 11 at 8am, with a rain date of May 18th. Come and join us in a good old-fashioned work day!

Workdays are not only a time for helping with the maintenance of the church and grounds, but also a time for fun and socialization with friends of South New Hope. Whatever time you can allow would be greatly appreciated. Please bring shovels, rakes, gloves and whatever small hand tools you would normally use around the year.

In keeping with Norwegian custom, good conversation, coffee and cookies will be served during the work period.🍪🍪☕☕

Welcome to our Winter Newsletter! In it you will find out what has been happening at South New Hope and also what to look forward to in 2024. We are proud to say that we continue to maintain and preserve the history of South New Hope through the generous people who believe in our mission. We thank them. South New Hope Church participated in the Wreaths Across America event by placing wreaths on the veterans headstones who are interred in our cemetery.

"The Mission is to Honor and Remember every American fallen service member and recognize the enduring sacrifice of every family. The organization pays tribute to all military lives lost, not only while serving on active duty but also as a result of serving."

Wreaths Across America Day will be observed on December 16th. Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom. Join us at South New Hope Cemetery on December 16th at 10 a.m. The church bell will ring once for each veteran that has been laid to rest in the cemetery. You are welcome to sponsor a wreath or participate with us in the laying of the wreaths. The wreaths are priced at $17 each which is our cost. The wreath donations can be mailed to: South New Hope Cemetery Association, PO Box 62, Nelsonville, WI 54458 or donated at the event. South New Hope Cemetery is located at 1410 County Rd T., Amherst Junction WI

Mange takk, or many thanks, to the gracious pie bakers that provided 65 delicious, homemade pies for the 2023 Pie Social which was a tremendous success. The pies were sold by a whole pie or a slice of pie served with whipped cream or ice cream and they were totally sold out by 2:30 p.m. Another addition this year was the warm apple cider. And, thank you to all the people attending the event. The pie social proceeds are a fabulous kick-off toward the funds needed to provide protective windows to the stained glass windows in church.
