Our church family is grieving this week with news of the loss of Hawley Lawliss, a beloved lifelong Main Streeter and community member. At MSCC he was known for his big heart, boisterous singing, and remarkable resilience. Around town, he was the unofficial “mayor of Amesbury,” well known and well-loved seemingly everywhere he went. He left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. Of course our hearts and prayers of peace go out especially to his family - Bill and Laurie, Bob and Valorie.

Our church family is all the stronger because of Hawley and for all the gifts he shared - not only of music, but of compassion and faith, amidst all sorts of odds. We are honored to be able to share in
Hawley’s Celebration of Life service on Saturday May 30, 2026, at 1:00pm in the Sanctuary. Per the family, “Attendees are encouraged to wear New England sportswear as Hawley would approve (AHS gear is acceptable). At the family’s
request, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Coastal Connections, 4 Noel St, Amesbury, MA 01913.
