It was in 1963 that a small group of believers met for a Bible study in a nearby home. From this, beginning a church was born with 28 charter members. God had great things in mind. Soon evident was the reality that this growing church needed a new home and in life-stretching faith five acres were purchased in the corn fields on a dirt road on the north side of town. As God’s vision continued to gr
ow, expansion of that initial facility happened time and time again:
• 1969 – Small worship center and kitchen facilities were constructed
• 1976 – Christian Education Wing was completed for a growing Children’s ministry
• 1986 – 700 seat Worship Sanctuary and foyer area were completed
• 1995 – 10,000 sq. feet Ministry Center was added
• 2000 – 75 acre parcel at GW Carver and Cameron School Road purchased
• 2002 – The “Outback” Children’s ministry space was added on the five acre site
• 2009 – The PLEX completed and contains a full-size gym, 300 seat presentation space, commercial kitchen, coffee gathering area, and administrative space to support six staff members.
• 2014 – Christ Community Church completed at 5501 George Washington Carver Ave. The new campus contains 500 seat presentation space, Children's Ministry space, additional classrooms and administrative space for all staff. Christ Community Church moves to new campus and all activities happen there. God’s vision for connecting us in life-defining relationships in Christ continues to grow at Christ Community Church and we are excited how Christ wants to connect to our Community.
