During the vacancy, several retired pastors will be helping out. This week, Pastor Dave Splett will preach for both Sunday services and lead the Saturday service. Here is a picture and a brief bio.

Reverend David Splett and his wife, Barbara, moved to Ames in 2019 after he retired from 30+ years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. Prior to that, Rev. Dave was a campus pastor at the University of Arkansas and before that he served the dual parish of Reinbeck and Gladbrook here in Iowa. Dave and Barb have a son and his family who live in Gainesville, FL and a daughter and her family who live here in Ames with three of their five grandchildren. If you think that Rev. Dave seems to miss a lot of church services here at Memorial, he has a good excuse. He has been helping other pastors who have needed to be gone. He should be around here more in the days to come. You may also see him ushering at Hilton, Jack Trice, or Stephens. We're grateful for Rev. Dave's help!
