The Third Annual Community Summit at Upper Dublin Lutheran Church was inspiring, joyful, informative, and at times heartbreaking. Rev. Keith Anderson and his wife, Jenny, along with the UDLC Advocacy and DEI teams, hosted the events, supported by a large team of volunteers. Keynote speaker Kristyn DiDominick, Executive Director of Bux-Mont Collaborative, led us through the state of the nonprofit sector in our country and our area. The trends included 1. Financial instability and volatility 2. Difficulty filling vacancies; the workforce is strained and, in some cases, burned out. 3. Community demand is rising, and then we talked about what this moment calls on us to do. Advocacy. Advocate for the laws and systems that are most meaningful to lifting people out of poverty. Standing alongside those in our community who are struggling. Get involved. Ask what they need. Show love. It was an amazing day, filled with incredible stories of everyday heroes, and the very real fear and hunger that is rampant and growing in our midst. I left drained, yet filled with hope that these nonprofits exist and that there are outstretched hands. More on this and the various nonprofits represented in the coming days. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. - Matt 22:39
