At a special called meeting on March 19, the Northern Skies District Leadership Team
voted to move forward with the sale of the Camp Michigamme property. This decision
has been affirmed by votes of the Northern Skies District Board of Church Location and
Building, and the Michigan Conference Extended Cabinet, which is the body that acts
ad interim on behalf of the Annual Conference.
The Northern Skies District will hold a virtual District Conference through Zoom on
Tuesday, April 7th at 7:00 PM. The purpose of this specially called District Conference
will be to affirm or not affirm the decision of the District Leadership Team, the Board of
Church Location and Building, and the Extended Cabinet.
Know that wherever you are in the district, above or below the bridge, this decision
matters. The Northern Skies District owns the camp. Fiscal responsibility for the camp
falls to the district as a whole. There are two documents that provide more information on the current situation and details used in making a decision in the newsletter.
