8 Things That Help Me Keep My Peace
Life gets wild sometimes, so wild that the potential to give up my peace becomes great.
Here’s 8 things I do that help me keep my peace.
1. Focus on Jesus
It might sound simple, but reminding myself of Jesus’ sacrifice and His love gives me strength to face each day.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." - John 16:33
2. Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff
Getting cut off in traffic, a bad grade, or when someone squeezes the toothpaste from the middle of the tube isn't the end of the world. Focus on what truly matters, and the little things will seem less important.
3. Forgive Fast & Frequently
Holding grudges only hurts you. Letting go of anger and forgiving others frees your heart from negativity.
"A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense." - Proverbs 19:11
4. Find the Good
This takes practice, but there's always something good to find. When you spend time looking for good, you become less focused on what’s bad.
"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." - Philippians 4:8
5. Avoid Negative People
Spend as little time as possible with negative people. They can bring you down. When you're around them, try to steer the conversation to something positive. Instead, seek people who inspire you to grow in every area of your life.
6. Trust Holy Spirit’s Transformation Process
God wants us to live full, blessed, & holy lives. By following His principles and walking with the Holy Spirit, you'll experience true transformation.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." - Galatians 5:22-23
7. Serve God By Serving Others
Focus on helping others and fulfilling God's purpose. Doing things for others brings us fulfillment and happiness.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:33
8. Worship
Worship invites God’s presence into your situation, and when God is involved, things change.
"About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose." - Acts 16:25-26
It is possible to have peace during imperfect times.
The Bible says:
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." - Proverbs 4:23
