Junice Thompson Jr.
SEPTEMBER 23, 1947 – JUNE 5, 2026

Junior was born on September 23, 1947 in Amarillo to Junice Thompson and Audrey Wortman Thompson, He attended schools in Amarillo, graduated from Tascosa High School and attended Amarillo College. Junior was a proud soldier with the United States Marine Corps. His successful and loyal work career was with Owens Corning, and he retired from that organization with a reputation for his dedication and excellent work ethic. He worked with Hobby Lobby after retirement. Junior enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He and his soulmate Debbie enjoyed fishing at many lakes in Texas and Oklahoma. Some of his fishing was from his boat, and other times from the quiet, peaceful banks. He loved his Shih Tzus, Hoby and Woby and Izzie and Lizzie. He and Debbie spent every weekend traveling throughout Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Kansas selling the creative wooden signs he made from old picket fences. Some had military logos, some personalized, others said “Home” or “Welcome.” He was quite talented on the barbecue grill, and every Sunday Junior could be found cooking his famous delicious ribs. He was a special man to many, and he will be missed.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Junice and Audrey Thompson and his sisters, Shirley Polvadore and Sharon Higgins.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving companion and soulmate of many years, Debbie; daughter Cynthia Bird and husband Jerry; and two grandchildren, Jacob Bird and Ciera David.

A graveside service will be held to celebrate his life (tentatively) on Friday, June 12 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 E I-40, Amarillo, Texas.

Miles Windham
AUGUST 23, 1949 – MAY 24, 2026

Miles was born in Charlotte, TX on August 23, 1949, to Lottie Imogene Windham. He was one of two children.
Miles graduated from Charlotte High School in 1967. Then shortly after graduation he hopped on a bus and headed to the Texas Panhandle. This is where he started a successful career with The Texas State Health

Department in Meat Inspection. During an appointment to see his dentist, Miles met his future wife, Charlotte Crosby. Charlotte had a young son named Robert and in just a few short months they decided to become a family. Two years later their daughter Nicole (Nikki) decided to make an appearance on their anniversary, completing their family of four. Miles loved working in meat inspection, but he always said that if he woke up one day and didn’t want to go to work then it was time to retire. Well that day happened after 32 years with the Texas State Health Department. When he retired at the age of 49, Miles knew that he still had quite a few more years to give. Miles always enjoyed traveling with the Health Department so he decided to try his hand at driving a semi truck, a tour bus, and a shuttle bus. Eventually he became tired of being away from his family and decided to find a local job. Miles loved working for the State of Texas so much that he decided to become a guard at the Clements Unit where he retired once again. Well the roads were calling to Miles once again, but this time he took Charlotte along for the ride. They decided to work as Gate Guards for Site Watch. This job gave them the opportunity to see areas that they had never seen before. Miles finally called it quits last year and moved back to Amarillo to spend time with his family. Family was very important to Miles. He was married to Charlotte for almost 54 years. During that time they lived in two homes, had two children and got to see their six grandchildren and four great grandchildren grow up. Above all, Miles enjoyed life. Whether it be cooking out and making his famous potato salad for his family. Watching his beloved Texas Longhorns on Saturday and his Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Talking with his buddies, loving his country and most of all Fishing in Questa, NM.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Windham, mother Lottie Windham, mother-in-law Elvina (Bee) Short, father-in-law Bud Short, sister Joan Douglas, brother-in-law Jay Douglas and sister-in-law Linda Hoskinson.

He is survived by his son Robert Windham, daughter Nicole Bargas and husband Brandon. Six grandchildren , Skyller, Chase and Caidence Windham and Zoe, Campbell and Kyson Bargas and four great grandchildren: Sevyn, Teddy and Thelonious Windham and Augustus King; Nephews Dale and Gary Geist.

In closing, Miles had one request: Please let this be a celebration and not a tear fest, to think of him the next time you catch a fish and Hook ‘em!
