Covenant Fellowship

Covenant Fellowship Life is better together Covenant Fellowship Church; our name says it all. Back then we were known as San Jacinto Methodist Church.

At Covenant it’s about commitment: commitment to Christ, commitment to others, and commitment to service beyond ourselves. That commitment began in 1924 when the first group of people joined together to worship God as a body of believers in the San Jacinto community at 6th and Tennessee. In 1963 we became San Jacinto United Methodist Church. In 2005, we became Covenant Fellowship Church at our new

home in the Avondale community of Amarillo. September 1, 2014 we began the next chapter in our story. We moved our congregation to 8501 S. Coulter, in southwest Amarillo in response to God's call to be in fruitful ministry. We are excited about this new opportunity and look forward to what God will do in and through us. Much has changed over the years: our name, our address, and our membership. But one thing remains constant – our commitment. We have determined to remain a vital faith community committed to God’s call on our lives individually, and as a congregation. We have devoted ourselves to loving and serving Christ, one another, and those beyond our walls. The people of Covenant reflect the character of the pioneer spirit that made the Church of Jesus Christ what it is – a powerful instrument for the transformation of the world.

Let us join our hearts with believers from across this country in prayer for the people of Louisiana and the surrounding states that have been, are, and will be in the path of Hurricane Ida.

If you feel God's nudging to help in some way there are multiple places where you can make a donation to assist those affected. I highly suggest making monetary donations to UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee On Relief.

100% of all funds donated go directly to those affected. UMCOR does not keep any portion of the donations for overhead or other expenses. All of UMCOR's operating expenses are covered through giving to the local church.

The link to give directly to Hurricane Ida assistance is at the bottom of the post.

Donations of any size, from $5 to $5000 or more would be a great help to those in need due to Hurricane Ida.

At this time, the best and most effective means of donating is through monetary donations. UMCOR is able to negotiate for large-scale purchases, so the money you give goes significantly further in helping than if we were to individually purchase items and transport them to the nearest warehouse.

We pray for the people of Louisiana and surrounding states as Category 4 Hurricane Ida nears and makes landfall on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

UMCOR is monitoring the extreme winds and storm surge Ida could bring. In coordination with conference disaster response coordinators, UMCOR will assess the storm’s impact and respond to immediate needs.
