After studying 1 Thessalonians last night, I cannot help but pray and thank God for our church:
Gracious and loving God,
We give You thanks for Your Church—the body of Christ, called together by Your grace and united by Your Spirit.
Thank You for this congregation and for every person You have brought into our fellowship. We praise You for those who pray faithfully, serve quietly, teach Your Word, care for the hurting, welcome the stranger, encourage the weary, and share the good news of Jesus Christ.
As Paul gave thanks for the Thessalonian church, we thank You for the work produced by faith, the labor prompted by love, and the endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for every evidence of Your grace among us and for the ways You are shaping us into a people who reflect Your love.
Forgive us when we take one another for granted or lose sight of our shared calling. Teach us to bear with one another in love, to preserve the unity of the Spirit, and to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.
Make our church a house of prayer, a refuge for the weary, a family for the lonely, and a light within our community. Strengthen our leaders, deepen our fellowship, renew our worship, and give us courage to serve. May all that we say and do bring glory to You.
With grateful hearts, we offer ourselves anew to Your service, trusting that the One who began a good work among us will carry it on to completion.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
