211 Resources for Wildfire Recovery

Dear Community Partners,

As wildfire recovery efforts continue across the Texas Panhandle, we are asking our provider network to help share the following important information with individuals and families impacted by the recent fires.

PRELIMINARY IMPACT

Current reports indicate more than 50 homes have been lost, with many additional households affected by smoke damage, displacement, utility interruptions, property damage, and other disaster-related hardships.

FIRST STEP FOR ALL SURVIVORS

All individuals affected by the fires — even those who did not lose their homes — are strongly encouraged to complete the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) iSTAT Damage Survey and request VOAD assistance.

The iSTAT survey helps emergency officials document community damages and determine eligibility for additional disaster recovery resources and assistance programs.

Through VOAD assistance requests, survivors may be connected to:

• Clothing

• Hygiene products

• Baby items

• Towels and blankets

• Temporary food boxes

• Clean-up crews

• Assistance replacing important documents

• Insurance navigation support

• Temporary housing resources

• Other unmet disaster-related needs

TDEM iSTAT Survey:

https://damage.tdem.texas.gov/

AMERICAN RED CROSS ASSISTANCE

Individuals who have not yet been contacted by the American Red Cross are encouraged to call:

1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767)

Eligible households may qualify for financial assistance for immediate disaster-related needs including:

• Clothing

• Hygiene items

• Food

• Towels and paper products

• Medications

• Other essential items

Please note:

Opening a Red Cross case DOES NOT replace completion of the TDEM iSTAT survey.

TEMPORARY HOUSING ASSISTANCE

Through a partnership with Airbnb.org, eligible wildfire survivors may qualify for up to 28 days of temporary housing assistance.

Individuals needing temporary shelter due to fire loss or damage should:

Call 2-1-1 and ask about the Airbnb.org temporary housing program.

MULTI-AGENCY RESOURCE CENTER (M.A.R.C.)

A Multi-Agency Resource Center is currently being planned for:

Saturday, May 23, 2026

Location to be announced

The M.A.R.C. will serve as a centralized location where disaster survivors can connect with multiple organizations and recovery resources in one place.

VOLUNTEER & DONATION INFORMATION

At this time, NO spontaneous volunteers are being requested while emergency response operations remain active. Self-deploying into disaster areas is strongly discouraged by emergency management and National VOAD partners.

Individuals interested in participating in organized recovery efforts may email:

[[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Physical donations may be delivered to:

Downtown Women’s Center Thrift City

812 SW 10th Ave

Amarillo, TX 79101

Donation Hours:

Monday–Saturday

9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Requested items include:

• Household items in good working condition

• NEW socks and undergarments

• Hygiene and feminine hygiene products

• Toilet paper and paper towels

• Razors, toothpaste, and toothbrushes

• Shampoo, conditioner, and soap

• Towels and baby wipes

• Bottled water

• Cleaning supplies including bleach, disinfecting wipes, and disposable gloves

Please note: No outer clothing donations are being requested at this time.

MONETARY DONATIONS

Financial contributions remain the most effective way to support disaster recovery efforts. Monetary donations allow organizations serving survivors to quickly purchase and distribute urgently needed items.

Donate to the Amarillo Area Foundation’s Panhandle Disaster Relief Fund:

https://amarilloareafoundation.org/disaster/

Please continue sharing this information widely throughout the community to help ensure all impacted residents are aware of available assistance and recovery resources.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of the Texas Panhandle community.

Sincerely,

2-1-1 Texas Panhandle
