Pastor Bettye Jones's biography.
My name is Bettye Jones. I grew up as a military child and lived mostly in Wichita Falls with three years in England. I have a BBA in Accounting from Midwestern State University. I have participated in many different mission outreach programs including SEEK Camp, Food Pantry, Emmaus and currently started and working on getting non-profit status for a new relief organization to help cowboys who are injured while working for or on a ranch. Our family saw a need, after a friend’s brother suffered a bad horse wreck while day working for another ranch.
Before being a pastor, I participated in Wesley Foundation while in college and attended the national gathering as a rep for Texas for the Wesley Foundation at Ferrum College in West Virginia. Over the years I have been active in the United Methodist Church in various roles.
I am currently employed as a Senior Accounting Manager for a small CPA firm and work remotely. I completed licensing school in 2020 and was appointed as pastor at Petrolia UMC and when the church merged with First UMC Henrietta, I became the Associate Pastor at Henrietta. I often tell people my passion is ministry; my accounting job pays the bills. Currently, I am enrolled in course of study to complete the educational requirements by our Book of Discipline as a licensed local pastor.
I am married to Travis Jones of Bellevue, TX. We live in Vasthi, TX where I have owned a home for 18 years. I have an adult son who is 23 years old and works for the Spivey Ranch and a grandson who is 19 months old. My husband owns a fencing company, and we have a small cow-calf operation in Clay and Jack County. We have three horses, three inside/outside dogs, three working dogs, four outside friendly cats (one thinks she is an indoor cat) and lots of chickens. We might love animals. I enjoy running/walking, paddleboarding, hiking, and pretty much anything outdoors, plus a little cooking.
