Grace Episcopal Church Alvin

Grace Episcopal Church Alvin Grace is a church that says “YES!”,
boldly answering Jesus’ call to “Love your neighbor”
with reckless openness.

We live this out seven days a week in the most surprising ways guided by “holy experiments”. Grace strives to be a unified, thriving church that feeds souls and bellies while maintaining a consistent, visible presence and extending GRACE(IOUS) hospitality to the community of Alvin. Grace Episcopal Church is a member of the Diocese of Texas and a constituent member of the Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Pursuing Love: A Trinity Sunday Sermon - May 31, 2026
Summary
On Trinity Sunday, Mother Suzanne leads her congregation through an exploration of one of the Christian faith's most central and mysterious doctrines — the Trinity. Drawing on images like St. Patrick's shamrock and the concept of the "divine dance," she unpacks the three-in-one nature of God as not merely a theological abstraction, but an intimate, living reality that shapes how believers relate to God, to themselves, and to one another. Ultimately, she reminds her congregation that we are forever pursued by a God whose very nature is love and relationship.

THE GOSPEL Matthew 28:16-20

The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Another beautiful Thursday morning of neighbors serving neighbors at Grace Episcopal Church! This week, we were especially grateful to welcome back a volunteer team from the Friendswood Chapter of the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL), who also served alongside us last summer. Mothers and sons worked side-by-side helping distribute food, direct traffic, unload pallets, and share kindness with our community. Their commitment to serving together and investing in their community is a powerful witness to what happens when young people learn compassion through action.

Last Thursday’s weather was absolutely terrible, with steady rain and soggy conditions throughout the morning, but our incredible volunteers carried on without complaint. Despite the rain, food was packed, cars were loaded, deliveries were made, and neighbors were served with smiles and compassion. We are deeply grateful for volunteers who continue to show up, rain or shine, for our community.

This week’s Houston Food Bank delivery included potatoes, onions, lettuce, bananas, mangoes, pineapples, watermelons, plantains, rice, and assorted chips. As always, these fresh foods will help support hundreds of families across Northern Brazoria County.

We also want to remind our community that Thursday mornings at Grace are an excellent opportunity for young people to complete community service hours during the summer. No need to sign up — just show up! Whether helping pack food, load vehicles, sort produce, or greet neighbors, there is always meaningful work to do and lives to impact.

Every Thursday, we are reminded that ministry happens not only inside church walls, but also in parking lots, food lines, conversations, and acts of simple kindness. Thank you to every volunteer, donor, partner, and neighbor who continues to make this ministry possible.
