🛑CYBERSECURITY SCAM ALERT🛑
Scammers often use major events like natural disasters to trick people. After Hurricane Helene in the U.S., they started using AI to create fake images, stirring emotions to get you to donate. Recently, an image of a frightened girl holding a puppy while being evacuated from a flood circulated on Facebook and other platforms. However, this image is fake.
Scammers want you to click links for fake donations or steal your personal information. Donating to these fake causes will not help disaster victims but allow scammers to steal your money and data.
To avoid falling for these scams:
- Be cautious of AI-generated images. Look for unusual details.
- Only donate to legitimate charities through official websites.
- Don't act impulsively; research before donating or clicking links, especially after a disaster.
