We are watching the upcoming weather. Plans are to have Food Ministry this Thursday. Any changes will be announced here.

Food Ministry will be closed Dec. 24-Jan 2, 2026 due to TAFB holiday closures. We expect to resume food distribution on Jan. 8.

Update: Due to changes at TAFB, we will not have food ministry tomorrow November 13, 2025. We will be open again on December 4, 2025

Our Food Ministry will be serving Thursday, February 20th. We will not be loading until after 10 AM as is our custom, and we recommend that due to the cold weather you not come early unless you need to renew your recipient registration.

Food Ministry for January 16, 2025 is on-schedule. Please remember that it is the beginning of the year & you probably need to reapply for benefits.** Plan your schedule to include this extra time. You may want to arrive a bit earlier than you normally do.

Our hours will be:

Registration will start at 8 am.
Food Distribution: 9 am - 11 am.

**Check the expiration date on your benefit card to see if you have a different reapplication date than January 2025.

Our Story

The Alvarado SDA Food Ministry is run by the Alvarado Seventh-day Adventist Church, in cooperation with the United States Department of Agriculture, Texas Department of Agriculture, and Tarrant Area Food Bank.

In order to receive food assistance, the person needs to make application and meet the eligibility requirements or have extenuating circumstances.

When approved, the applicant receives a BENEFIT CARD which will permit them to come get food assistance every Thursday unless the ministry is closed for some reason (like Christmas). It will have an expiration date on it. Food available each week will vary, depending on what we can obtain from the Tarrant Area Food Bank. We order food items consistent with a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet.

Hours may change according to when we receive the delivery of the food. Watch this site for the most recent notice for hours of service.
