No Resurrection, No Savior ======== Thank God, The Tomb is Empty

“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.... ye are yet in your sins.” - >1 Corinthians 15: 14, 17

It’s an unthinkable question: what if there had been no Easter? Suppose Jesus had not risen from the dead? Our faith would be futile, death would have dominion, sin would be sovereign and the future would be fearful. His death without His resurrection cannot save anybody. Our faith is worthless if He is still in the grave.

How do we know that Jesus Christ was not just a religious fanatic, someone with a martyr complex who happened to get crucified? How do we know He is the Son of God, God incarnate? Romans 1:4 says He is “shown to be the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead.”

How do we know that God accepted the sacrifice of Calvary? By the resurrection. The Bible says He was delivered for our offenses and raised again for our justification. No resurrection, no Savior. No Savior, no forgiveness. But Jesus went into the tomb and three days later walked out like a butterfly bursting from a cocoon. He is a risen Savior.

Read 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and meditate on all it means for your salvation.

Our Gifts
By: Steve Armentrout
----------------------------------

As Christians we all have a gift,
Some may have more than one,
But do we offer them cheerfully?
In the name of the Father and Son.

Do we offer them without expectation?
Not looking for credit or praise,
Giving them freely for others,
That it might help brighten their days.

Do we offer our gifts without thinking?
Serving God the way that we should,
Using them for the sake of others,
Trying only to do what is good.

When we use our gifts cheerfully,
It’s a testament to God’s grace,
So be sure and use them freely,
Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace.

Justice, Mercy and Grace
===================================
“...the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” - Psalm 84:11

There are three words that came together at Calvary:
• justice
• mercy
• grace
Justice is getting what we deserve. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Grace is getting what we don’t deserve.

But wait a minute; grace is more than that! It is grace that gives at great cost to the giver. It is not cheap. Grace cost the life of God’s Son. Jesus gave freely of Himself in agony and blood.

Did you know that grace has to chase us down? If God didn’t run faster than us, we would never be saved! Grace seeks to give to vile and wicked people that which they don’t deserve and can never deserve.

Are you a grace-giver? Find someone today and do a favor for them – something for which they couldn’t possibly repay you. Perhaps it will even be for a stranger you will never see again.

Setting Sail for a New Year
___________________________
“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” - Proverbs 29:18
================================================
Helen Keller was born with sight, but became blind as a young child. Yet she had vision. A reporter asked Miss Keller, “Is there anything worse than losing your sight?” “Yes,” she said, “It is to have sight but no vision.” Do you have a vision for your life at the threshold of a new year? On New Year’s Day, I review the goals for my life. These are spiritual, relational, intellectual, physical, and financial goals. I pray over these and ask for God’s will to be done in each one. I hold them in an open hand and ask that God would give me wisdom as to the direction He wants for my life. I don’t want to be a man without vision. I don’t want you to be one, either.

Begin to think about some goals you would like for your life. Pray and seek the Lord’s face as you ponder the future.

I can be Confident

“For Thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.”
Psalm 116:8

THOUGHT: I believe that the holidays are the loneliest time of the year. Everywhere you look, people are told they’re supposed to be happy and they realize they’re not. They see everybody else acting happy, and they feel so lonely. Just walking down the mall can make you feel lonely.

But Jesus has said, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5). When I’m discouraged, His presence sees me through. When I’m lonely His presence cheers me up. When I’m worried, His presence calms me down. And when I am tempted, His presence will help me out.

Write down the last portion of this devotional thought and personalize it. Now use it as a prayer of faith and trust.

When ________ is discouraged, His presence sees me through. When __________ is lonely His presence cheers me up. When _________ is worried, His presence calms me down. When ____________ is tempted, His presence will help me out.

Clear Direction from Overhead
========================================
(“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” - Isaiah 1:18)
Years ago I read about some soldiers at Fort Dix who were fighting a forest fire. Soon, they could see fire all around with no route of escape. Unexpectedly a plane flew overhead and dropped notes that said that they were surrounded by fire except for one narrow corridor. The note gave the instructions how to find it, which the firefighters did and they escaped.
They could not see the way out, but the pilots could. Thankfully, these soldiers did not question the authenticity or reliability of the note and were saved.
What a picture of our society today! We are in a firestorm of trouble and an inferno of problems. God has given us clear directions from above to help us escape with our lives. What will you do?

Is It Too Late for National Revival?

“If My people which are called by My name shall humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14

I am believing God for a national revival. You know, sometimes we think that it’s just too late and we need to hunker down. That’s what the devil wants us to do.

It’s always too soon to quit. God has sent revival in the darkest days before, and there’s not one shred of Scripture that says we cannot have revival in dark days.

It is not too late for America. And I don’t want you to say, “My country, right or wrong.” No, I want you to get right. One by one, let’s get right with God and then we can say it, sing it, pray it and mean it, “God bless America.” But there’s something more important than America, and it’s the kingdom of God. I’m not interested in making America a better place to go to hell from. People need to be saved.

The best thing you could do would be to lead another person to Jesus Christ. Then you will not just have a better citizen--you’ll have a new creation and a citizen of God’s kingdom! If someone asked you today how to be saved, are you prepared to lead them to Jesus Christ?
