More from our 195th Anniversary Sunday: A piper piped us in outside the church. The Great River Fife & Drum Corps greeted us as we entered the sanctuary.

Today we celebrated 195 years of faith at First Presbyterian Church in Alton.

Good morning, folks! As you prepare to come to worship this Sunday morning for our 195th Anniversary Celebration, a quick reminder that the corner of 4th and Alby Street is blocked and a large portion of Alby Street ripped up by public works.

Folks without mobility needs are encouraged to park either in the usual parking spot across from the 111 building (enter from the top of the parking lot and walk around the construction area to the sanctuary), but those with mobility and other health concerns are encouraged to park immediately behind the church or use Market Street to access the 4th Street parking spaces.

Beginning at 9:30 that morning, there will be people available to help you find parking & enter the church. If you are having difficulty accessing parking/entry to the church that morning, please call Alison at
618-531-0135.

In a couple of Sundays, First Presbyterian will be celebrating our 195th anniversary with a *big* worship service (fife, drum, bagpipes, the whole nine yards!), a reception of our new members, and a celebratory potluck afterwards.

Thank you to the volunteers from St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Alton, for preparing & serving a wonderful lunch today! We served 41 people & gave out 60 meals! Thank you so much!

Thank you to our volunteers from First Presbyterian & Phi Tau Omega for their help with the chili dog lunch at Saturday Café on July 11! We served 31 people, and gave out 50 lunches. We also distributed 27 Good Neighbor Bags! Sorry there are no pictures. We were short on volunteers & everyone was too busy!
