As we rapidly approach Easter we pause today to observe the events of Good Friday. It seems peculiar to celebrate the brutal ex*****on of a first century Jewish carpenter on a crude ancient Roman torture device. It would be strange, if Jesus was just a controversial Hebrew teacher that happen to draw the attention of the wrong people at the wrong time. Jesus was more than all these things. The story is so much more. Jesus was God incarnate, who willingly laid down his life as a sacrifice on behalf of the sins of all mankind. Yet, the death of Jesus itself doesn’t seem to necessitate a reason to call this remembrance Good Friday, and if we stop the story here it seems more like a hollow tragedy. The story is not finished, and its the miraculous events that we celebrate on Easter Sunday that allow us to observe the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross as a good thing.

Come join us this Sunday at 7:45am to hear more about the Easter story, and perhaps you too will come to embrace today as Good Friday.
