Altha UMC — National Day of Prayer

Today we pause and thank God for the people of Altha UMC.

For the generations who have prayed here, served here, raised families here, and kept showing up with faithful hearts through every season.

We pray for renewed joy, deeper connection, and fresh hope for the future.
May this church continue to be a place where people feel welcomed, cared for, and reminded they are not alone.

Bless every family, every child, every senior adult, every volunteer, and every person carrying burdens quietly today.

And God, continue to let Altha shine as a place of love, kindness, and community in this town.

Amen.

“Did the Bible really say… ‘Hate the sin, love the sinner’?” 🤔

Short answer: No.

That exact phrase isn’t in Scripture—anywhere.

But here’s why it matters…

We’ve turned that line into a slogan.
And sometimes it sounds more like distance than love.

Because if we’re honest—
it’s a lot easier to label someone’s sin
than it is to actually love them up close.

Jesus didn’t walk around announcing,
“I hate your sin, but love you.”

He ate at tables.
He touched people others avoided.
He defended, restored, and then called people into new life.

👉 “Neither do I condemn you… go and sin no more.” (John 8:11)

Truth and grace were never separated in Him.

So instead of asking,
“Am I saying this the right way?”

Maybe the better question is:
👉 “Does my life actually reflect the way Jesus loves people?”

Because biblical love isn’t distant.
It’s not cold.
And it’s never just a statement.

It looks like presence.
It looks like relationship.
It looks like Jesus.
