Heavenly Father,
We come before You confessing that our hearts are so easily drawn to the world and the things in it. By Your mercy, turn us from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Teach us not to love this passing world-system, but to love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Strengthen every listener now. Fill us with holy resolve. Let the love of the Father dwell richly in us, that friendship with the world would lose its hold and we would count Your will our greatest joy.
Speak, Lord. Let Your Word come to us not in word only, but in power, in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance. Open our ears to hear, our minds to understand, and our wills to obey. May what is sown take deep root, bear lasting fruit, and cause us to overcome the wicked one as Your Word abides in us.
We receive Your Word now in faith and in the might of Your Spirit. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
