First Baptist Church- Altavista, VA

First Baptist Church- Altavista, VA Religious Organization In 1923, the congregation moved to a new location on Twelfth Street and Franklin Avenue, now the site of First Baptist Church.

The year 1910 marked the inception of a church within the community, inspired by a group of pioneers: John Mosley, George Hutching, and William Edward. Mosley secured land from the Lane Brothers, where the first church, also serving as a community schoolhouse, was established on what is now known as Fourteenth Street and Franklin Avenue.
