When you exalt yourself, you're lying about reality.

You're saying you are ultimate.
You're claiming you deserve glory.
You're acting like the universe should revolve around you.

But when God exalts Himself?
He's simply telling the truth.

He is ultimate.
He does deserve glory.
He alone is who He is.

Some of us don't like it when people are blunt.
We get uncomfortable when someone speaks plainly.

But God isn't being arrogant.
He's being honest.

He's saying: I alone am the best thing that could ever happen to you.
What you need is Me.
I don't want to give you second best.
I don't want to give you anything less than the best.

And the best is Him.

This isn't ego.
This is love.

A Father refusing to let His children settle for counterfeits when the real thing is standing right in front of them.

God is not a bigger, better, more powerful version of you.

He's not insecure like you.
He's not weak like you.
He's not needy like you.

So here's what that means.

God does not love you by making the universe revolve around you.
Even though that's what you really, really want.

He loves you by refusing to give you something less than what you were made for.

The best thing God has to give you is not comfort.
Not success.
Not an easy life.
Not the thing you keep begging Him for.

The best thing He can give you is Himself.

And that changes everything.

Because when you stop chasing the gifts and start chasing the Giver, you find what your soul has been searching for all along.

He's not withholding good things from you.
He's protecting you from settling.

Last week was the final week of our Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies, and it was another wonderful season of studying God’s Word together. Spending this time with our church family each week has been so special. The women walked through Joshua, while the men walked through Daniel. We’re thankful for the time we’ve had together and all that we’ve learned along the way. What happens when God's glory leads you somewhere you never would have chosen?

A prayer that goes unanswered.
A door that stays shut.
A diagnosis that makes no sense.
A loss that feels unnecessary.
A season that drags on far longer than you thought you could bear.

At some point, you look up and wonder if you and God are even on the same page.

This is one of the primary questions of the Christian life.
My God, what are you doing?
Why are you doing it this way?

If you're following Jesus, you will hit this moment.
Maybe you already have.

The path He leads you down won't always make sense.
But that doesn't mean He's lost.

We don't ask God "why" because we're hungry for information.

We ask because we want control.

When things are good, we don't question Him.
But the moment life gets painful?
The moment tension fills every corner?

God, why aren't you doing it my way?
Why did you let this happen?
Why won't you fix this?

Be honest with yourself.
When you challenge God's plans, you're not just seeking understanding.
You're negotiating for the driver's seat.

And deep down, we all know that's true.

Faith does not begin with understanding God's way.

It begins with trusting God's character.

Who are you to talk back to God?
Not to ask questions.
But to tell Him He's doing it wrong.

To question His competency when He's making something beautiful out of your life for His glory.

You're not the judge.
You're not the supervisor.
You're not a coauthor of the story.

You're a child.

And a good father does not always explain himself.
But He can always be trusted.

That's where faith lives.

Just because God hasn't responded the way you think He should doesn't mean He doesn't love you.

Read that again.

Jesus loved Martha. He loved Mary. He loved Lazarus. And He still didn't show up when they thought He should.

His timing wasn't a reflection of His affection.

This is not a distant Messiah performing an object lesson. This is not a detached miracle worker setting up a demonstration.

Love is not in question. Affection is not in doubt.

If you're waiting on God right now and the silence feels deafening, hear this: His delay has nothing to do with how much He cares for you.

Nothing.
