Happy Feast Day!

Today is the feast day of St Mary Magdalene, or as I like to call her, the Patron Saint of showing up.
Mary Magdalene showed up to the tomb of Jesus and did something radical.
She stayed.
Even when everyone else left, she stayed.
Even when it was revealed that the tomb was empty, she stayed.
Mary Magdalene understood that unwavering love stays, not for what it can get out of the relationship, but because it is love.
Sisters, we cannot reap what we have not sown.
We can’t reap community to if we don’t show up to sow the seeds of community.
We can’t reap mercy if we don’t show up to sow the seeds of mercy.
We can’t reap compassion if we don’t show up and sow the seeds of compassion.
Keep showing up, when it is instinctual but especially when it’s hard.
St Mary Magdalene, pray for us.

Sr. Josephine Garrett, CSFN is the English speaker for this years conference. She is a native Texas born and raised in Houston, TX. Sister was raised Baptist and entered the Catholic Church in 2005. Later, in November of 2011, she began her formation to be a religious Sister. In November of 2020 Sister Josephine professed her final vows as a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth. She is a licensed counselor serving as the school counselor for the cathedral grade school in Tyler, TX, and also in private practice. Sister has also served in vocations ministry and as a national speaker for youth and young adults, speaking to groups of up to 25,000.
