Our church family is mourning the loss of our dear brother in Christ, James Ebersohl.

Although our hearts are saddened by James’ passing, we praise God for the life he lived, the faith he shared, and the memories he leaves with those who knew and loved him. We are thankful for the hope we have in Christ and find comfort in knowing that James is now in the presence of his Savior.

Please join us in praying for James’ family and loved ones as they face the days ahead. May God surround them with His peace, comfort, and strength, and remind them of His unfailing love throughout this season of grief.

“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8

While we grieve, we do not grieve without hope. We rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and look forward to the day when we will be reunited.

Sometimes reaching someone doesn’t begin with preaching them a sermon.

Sometimes it begins with simply saying:

“I care about you. I care about your family.”

In this testimony, guests walked through the church doors because someone—a truck driver—cared enough to point them toward the church.

Never underestimate what God can do through a simple conversation, a genuine act of kindness, or an invitation to church.

Jesus didn’t look at people as projects. He saw people who needed compassion, truth, forgiveness, and a Savior.

“But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them…” — Matthew 9:36

As Christians, we should care about people too.

Care about your neighbor.
Care about your coworker.
Care about the struggling family.
Care about the person who doesn’t know Christ.

You don’t have to be a pastor to make a difference. You don’t need a pulpit. Sometimes God can use something as simple as:

“Hey, I’d love for you to come to church with me.”

You may never know what God will do with that invitation.

Join us for our 2026 Missions Conference at Hazelgreen Baptist Church on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Ray Lewis and Pastor Courtney Lewis as they open God's Word and challenge us with the importance of reaching the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Missions is at the very heart of God's plan, and this special weekend will encourage, inspire, and remind us of our responsibility to take the Gospel to every nation. Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China, is remembered for a powerful truth:

“God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply.”

Think about that.

When we are doing what God has called us to do, according to His Word, and ultimately for His glory rather than our own, we can trust Him with the outcome.

That doesn’t mean God’s work will always be easy. It doesn’t mean we’ll never face obstacles, opposition, uncertainty, or seasons when resources seem scarce.

It means our confidence is in the God who provides.

Too often, we ask God to bless our plans. Instead, perhaps we should first ask:

Is this God’s work?
Am I doing it God’s way?
Is God receiving the glory?

When the answer is yes, trust Him with what you cannot provide yourself.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19

God’s work. God’s way. God’s glory. God’s supply.

That’s worth remembering.

Life will bring troubles. Trials will come. There will be moments when we don’t know what happens next.

But Christians have something greater than favorable circumstances—we have the constant presence of Almighty God.

God is not distant.
He is not helpless.
He is not powerless.
And He has not abandoned His people.

He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present.

The same God who created us and saved us through Jesus Christ is able to sustain us through whatever comes our way.

That’s why God’s presence, protection, and provision should strengthen our faith, embolden us to share the Gospel, comfort our hearts, and give us confidence when life’s trials come.

Jesus gave His church this promise:

“…lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” — Matthew 28:20

And Scripture reminds us:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

Whatever the church faces and whatever you’re personally walking through today, remember who your God is.

We do not serve a weak God.

We serve the Almighty God who created us, saved us, and will sustain us.

Missions: A Priority or an Afterthought?

There are dates on your calendar that you know nothing about yet.

A phone call you weren’t expecting. A diagnosis. An opportunity. A goodbye. A blessing you never saw coming. A moment that completely changes the direction of your life.

You don’t know what’s coming—but God does.

Ecclesiastes reminds us that God has placed eternity in our hearts, yet we cannot see His entire work from beginning to end.

Why?

One reason is that it destroys the illusion that we can figure out and control life on our own.

We can’t.

There will be waves that rock our boat. There will be seasons we don’t understand. There will be moments when we ask God, “Why is this happening?”

And sometimes we won’t receive the complete answer.

But we can know the One who does.

“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11

And just a few verses later:

“God doeth it, that men should fear before him.” — Ecclesiastes 3:14

Maybe one of the greatest lessons we can learn is this:

You were never meant to figure out life without God.

You don’t need to know everything that’s coming tomorrow to trust the God who is already there.
